Description:

Anyone out there like drawing comics, manga, or just doodling little character situations? Well, this is a zine swap that will allow you to show your skills to others. There will be a minimum 8 page requirment. It doesnt matter if you use words in the comic or not. Many things can be portrayed with just gestures and expressions. It can be black and white or color, and you can use any kind of paper. The idea is for it to be the same size as a mini-zine, but you can deviate from that a little if you feel it necessary.

I will angel if it comes to that but I will be checking profiles when I assign for any blatant flakers.

This is for people who want to share their art or little illustrations, and a way to get your stuff out there. Remember to write your website, blog, or place that we can see more of your artwork if you have one on the back of your zine.

I dont have a blog or site and it would be my first graphic novel zine is that ok?

lorootaku 07/12/2011 #

Yeah! That's totally ok. Everyone has to start somewhere and you may find it something you want to continue. Everyone is new to something every time they learn something new. :)

I hope you do this one again! I wont be able to join this time around because my comic zine is not finished, but hope to catch you next round!

lorootaku 07/13/2011 #

yeah. I will definitely make this one again. I hope to see your name on the list next time around.

I've become enchanted with working on the 1/3rd page (3 1/2" x 4 1/4") size mini-zines that are stapled. Would that format work with your graphic novel zine swap? I hope to one day create my own full-size graphic novel. A mini zine graphic novel would be good practice.

lorootaku 07/17/2011 #

yeah. that size is just fine. I'm leaving size open due to postage prices for bigger sizes. I know some people are crunched for money but still want to enjoy their hobby. I am using this as practice too. I have made a few small ones but am working towards a full graphic novel someday.

hello, can some one please explain full size mini is made from one peice of paper,I understand this one,it is folded 2xs one way..then cut through the center ONE fold qudrant. half. two times.......(2 center hunks) But now I read stapled .....FULL SIZE ......... and other design sizes?

What do I need to know, please....cause Originally I thought a mini magazine type ONLY this one,only.....would be accepted..... I feel if so many choices are given.....people might not be happy with what they recieve.and I am wondering.......what I shall create...or will people be nHAPPY IF I DO WHAT I WANT AND SEND A 8 page Full pages. zine? and aree expecting a mini? It is harder to make smaller GOOD Designs......and very easy to make a Large design.... ???????

Can I send my partner a sketch journal like zine? It's full of sketches for my graphic zine.

lorootaku 07/22/2011 #

to OUTSIDEARTIST: If you feel confortable making a larger zine, I'm sure it will be ok because this is a swap geared more towards artwork that the zine itself. I made mine out of one sheet of cardstock paper, but if you feel the need to make it larger for the sake of the artwork that is ok. I stated in the beginning that it can be different sizes, so no one should complain if the size bothers them, because different sizes were suggested from the beginning.

to JOURNALBOY: yes, Im sure if you put the full effort into your sketches it will be appreciated. I'm sure you know the difference between quality and lazy sketches, so just do your best.

thanks... see its also the fact that every time I TRY TO FOLD THOSE MORSELS OF one page..MINI 8 PAGE ZINE/BOOK....NO MATTER THICKNESS OF PAPER...IT WILL NOT STAY LINNED UP,AND I HAVE MADE ATC s and received remarks to my crooked little art work(some times very discouraged by this). which is very sad,I really put much effort ,great efforts in all I DO! OFTEN -3 hours and for sewn swaps days.....designing and trial and error. if it is not perfect, edges lined up,it is perfect in concept and message.. it is because I am not perfect! No one is,ONLY JESUS... BUT SOME OF YOUS GUYS CAN CUT A MEAN CORNER AND MEASUriNG TO ME IS SO SUBJEctIVE...which side of the line do I make my mark. NO Matter how hard I try it is wrong.....I shall make up for this with the contents of the swap...the art is only original ,all my concept.....I HONESTLY HOPE YOU LOVE IT! Most all art I make shows my inability to be a neat and tidy crafter....I am a artist and you shall receive REAL ART...I hope this is suitable... cause I really want to have fun and do good! thanks linda

Well Linda, no worries there because it looks like I will be receiving from you and I am not a stickler for stuff like that. I saw your artwork from the link on your profile and am looking forward to receiving some of your work.
