Description:

What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance.

The above quote is attributed to Jane Austen.

Write a note on a lovely notecard to one (1) partner about the weather. Though the quote is about summer, this works even if you live in the southern hemisphere and the weather is not hot since you are all bundled up for winter. Maybe that bundling puts you in as much a state of inelegance as summer does Jane.

EDIT: @papercaper put the idea in my head that we could write in the voice of the person quoted. I think that would be wonderful, though it is not a requirement. It has been years since I've read Jane Austen, but I suspect that if I got a note written in her style, it might prompt me to pick up one of my favorites ... Northanger Abbey.

This one in a series of swaps that use quotes as writing prompts.

Is this supposed to be written in a style similar to Jane Austen's, or true to the era (for the most part)? I'd love that if it is; I just don't want to waffle on like a pompous fool if my partner is expecting a contemporary voice. :D

Oh ... it would be FABULOUS to write in the era of the quote, but it isn't a requirement. I am going to add a note to the swap with that suggestion. Thank you!

Uh-oh, sorry to anyone who hates that idea. I didn't mean to... I genuinely didn't know! At least @PostMuse hasn't made it a requirement. :)

Suddenly I've got all these characters' voices in my mind - from Scarlet O'Hara to Holden Caulfield... gulp

Now the pressure's on....PostMuse is my partner so I'll have to really try to sound like Jane Austen, since she'd love to receive it like that! Ha Ha I'll so my best to send it in her style for you.!
