Description:

With marliese's permission, I am reintroducing this swap. I participated in the first one, back in 2009, and I like to trade paper ephemera.

I use book pages for ATCs, inchies, journal pages and in card-making.

Please send your 1 partner 6 pages from VINTAGE (that means 20 years old or older) books: cookbook, dictionary, thesaurus, children's book, text book, atlas or foreign-language novel.

PLEASE try to rip/tear pages gently so they are mostly intact. Please try to include at least two pages with illustrations.

Please no flaking! This is a very easy swap (no work, low postage) so everyone should be able to send in time. Please send something that you would like to receive yourself.

This swap is international. And I do check profiles.

Can a newbie join?

Any chance you'd consider making the definition of vintage a bit older, say 1980 or earlier? 20 years ago was 1991! Can't hardly believe it.

P.S. For those of you who love ephemera, there's a great group called Ephemera Junkies in Swap-Bot groups.

I was also going to ask if you could make it 1980 or earlier. I don't consider anything from the 80's vintage :) Of course its your swap though!

Sure, that's fine. Most of the stuff I have is much older but I just wanted to define what vintage means. At the flea markets and antique stores I frequent, vintage means only 20-25 years old.

And yes, 1991 seems to soon to be considered vintage. Then I am vintage plus!

Why a month to send out? Seems like a long time.

smmarrty 07/28/2011 #

I changed the send-out date. I know some folks send the first day or week and some need time to gather materials. I do both myself: I like to read profiles to see if there is anything I can add to each package or envelope I send out that is something my partner(s) collect or wish for.

Hope this satisfies.

Would be helpful if pages aren't folded.

YES! Try to use a large envelope so your pages can be flat in the envelope. A 9" x12" is recommended.

Do the pages have to be all from the same book, or all different, or does it not matter?

smmarrty 08/ 3/2011 #

It's nice to include several different kinds of paper - as it says in the description - novels, foreign language anything, cookbook, text book, children's book or atlas. I bought a package of "ripped" pages from someone on Etsy and it included shorthand pages and mini comic books from the 1950's. I use the blank pieces of old paper for making ATCs and inchies and small embellishments for dolls and dotees.

Thanks. I'm so pleased, today a charity came to my work selling old books n stuff so I picked up a few different bits and bobs for hardly any money. Now I have lots of stuff to choose from!
