Description:

MAKE ME A PAIR OF SILVER EARRINGS WITH A STORY TO TELL! (Please also check the sister swap for this one: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/97769)

Do you like wearing and making earrings? Do you also like to think of a story behind the items you make? If the answer to both questions is yes - this is a swap for you!

You will send one pair of handmade silver earrings to your partner. The earrings must be made by you. You will also name the earrings and include in your package a note/letter/postcard telling the story behind the jewelry you made. For example: Describe what inspired you to make the earrings and/or how you got the idea for the name. You need not write a novel, but try to put some effort to it.

Silver coated or silver coloured materials are NOT okay, this is for silver (at least Sterling, 92,5%, fine silver is also okay but is more expensive, of course). Please follow this material rule carefully for allergy reasons!

You may add beads (stone, glass, crystal, lampwork) or any other materials and media to your work (polymer clay, wood, ceramic, mixed media etc.) Working techniques are your own choice (wire-wrapping, hammering the silver, whatever you want to do with it). Do not use low quality materials such as cracked beads. A reasonable amount of craftmanship and jewelry-making experience is needed for this swap. The emphasis is on your creativity and imagination, but pay attention to quality as well.

The earrings are senders choice but the receiver may give vague instructions on length (short or long) and colours or materials they especially like. Participants may and are encouraged to be inspired by their partner's profiles! The main target is to be inspired and have fun with it!

RULES: Lowest accepted rating is 4.8. PM me if you have any unexplained or recent 1´s. You must have completed at least five type 3 swaps to join this swap. I will have to ban you if your swapping history does not meet these requirements.

Send one pair of SILVER earrings made by you and a note to go with it, telling the story behind your work. Give the earrings a name and describe a bit what inspired you while making them.

The earrings are senders choice, receivers may give vague instructions / make wishes to INSPIRE their swap partners. WHAT IS OKAY: "I wish for small earrings. I also like stone beads a lot." WHAT IS NOT OKAY: "I don't want anything with glass beads or polymer clay and I only wear hoops."

Please rate according to Swap-bot rules and communicate with your partner or with me if you are uncertain about anything!

Please feel free to ask questions or clarifications! Happy swapping and crafting!

where do we get the silver things to make these?

Bluecrayons: You can buy from which ever shop you usually buy your silver findings and materials for the jewelry you make, or you could just use any silver findings you have at home already. There are hundreds of webshops offering reasonably priced silver findings and wire. I can gladly give you a couple of hints via PM if you want, but I will not advertise any shops in public. I know a couple of reliable webshops in the USA, where you live, but as I am European I usually do not order my silver from there.

It is not extremely pricey to make a pair of silver earrings even though the price of silver has been quite high lately. But if you do not normally work with silver, I would not recommend you joining this swap since ordering only a couple of things can cost you relatively more (with the postage, for example, and as you do not have the opportunity to order wholesale).

I made a sister swap with a similar idea to people who wish to use other materials than silver: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/97769
