Description:

This swap is inspired by one I recently did called "How Much Can You Cram Into a Flat Rate Box" (http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/8978). I have gotten permission from thefinderofthings to do another one. So here we go! For this swap, we will be cramming flat rate boxes full of anything and everything. You want to go for miscellaneous, random, varied items.. and of course, you probably want to make it as heavy as possible.. just because you can :)

Be aware that this isn't necessarily about getting stuff you need, so if you get stuff you can't use send it to your local thrift store or re-swap it. or freecycle it. or whatever. and in keeping with the orignal this is US ONLY.

If you have any questions, PM ME.

As far as who can join-if you are new you must have at least participated in 3 real swaps. and you must have at least a 4.2 to JOIN. i'm leaving this pretty open since we're not exactly swapping diamonds here.

Since you are talking about flat rate boxes, I assume this is US only? (Other countries don't have flat rate boxes...)

yes

i just added that :)

Although it's noted on my profile I want to remind my partner to please not send food or drink items. We both have severe food allergies and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just checking are we talking about the 8x8 box I think it is $6.90?

cat 01/ 3/2008 #

I'm confused by this... I sent my box yesterday thinking they were all $8.95 at this point, but IRRC I was charged only $6.90 and was confused and double-checked with the postman that he was sending it as a flat-rate box... then I went to the usps.com web site and see no mention of cheaper flat rate boxes either.. http://www.usps.com/shipping/flatrate.htm

if anyone could shed some light on this i'd be grateful.. but for now i will assume there are 2 diff. sized boxes? in which case, i will say (since partners are already assigned and some, such as me, have already sent) that you MUST send at least the 6.90 one and if someone sends a bigger one, that's fine too, and would encourage you to give a heart if you get a bigger one and the stuff is useable.

I sent mine today and it was the $8.95 box. I wasn't aware there was another size either.

thefinderofthings 01/ 9/2008 #

hey cat, do you think your box weighed less than 3 lbs? Maybe the post office went off the weight of the box instead of the "flat rate" price.

thefinderofthings 01/ 9/2008 #

I was just checking the USPS website, the only thing I could find related to the $6.90 price was something called a "special handling" fee. But I'm not sure what it means....weird.

No, I made sure the postman knew it was a flat rate box and he said he did... of course maybe he could've just charged me that rate to be nice :) but this is the same guy who once "accidentally" forgot to give me $10 change.. i went out to eat lunch before i noticed, and had to come all the way back! so, the 6.90 thing is still a mystery...

My box went out today to Generalissimo. I hope you like it. enjoy!

I sent out hawaiiangirl's box yesterday but forgot to mark it as sent.

Valleygirl 02/ 5/2008 #
