My name is Aleax Mejia and I'm a 19-year-old Latina from Chicago. Yes, my name is spelled Aleax. I identify as Mexican-American, Italian, and Filipino. My community, Little Village, located in the South Lawndale part of Chicago is where my beginnings and character truly began. I am currently pursuing a MFA in Environmental Geosciences at Northern Illinois University.
