I'm that classic American housewife -- over-educated and under-employed. I enjoy quilting, knitting and (most recently) making aprons!
My family includes two Pembroke Welsh corgis originally bought for 4-H projects for my two sons. But I'm really a cat person -- I have three cats. My cats always have food names: Domino (after the pizza company, but also because she is black and white); Chocolate Mousse (aka the devil kitten of doom) and Chutney (a very sweet, affectionate half-Siamese with a voice that could strip varnish).
I'm a voracious reader, but in the past couple of years I've discovered our local library (Pikes Peak Library District) has audio books available to download to your iPod. So I can sew, knit or paint my nails while listening to a book! I just finished "I Feel Bad About My Neck" by Nora Ephron, which wouldn't be nearly as funny if I weren't also over 50.
I've managed to avoid collecting giddy-gadgets for the most part, although I do have several china trinket boxes. I write the date received and the name of the giver on the bottom so I don't forget where they came from (I TOLD you I am over 50!) I also have a very extensive collection of -- wait for it -- nail polishes. I cannot resist a new nail polish color, especially OPI, which has the most clever names for their polish.
