Hi!

I'm Bonny. I'm married and live with my husband, Rob, on Vancouver Island, BC, off the west coast of Canada.

Currently, and for the last few years, I've been happy to travel with Rob whenever he has meetings in different parts of the world. I've even been to St.Petersburg in Russia. It's a good thing we both like travelling so much! That's how I get a lot of my inspiration for my Blog, 'Bonnys' Pages'.

I've been creative for most of my life, starting with crocheting, which learned from my Mom. Later, I learned how to knit and I dabbled in quilting for a short while, too.

I drew a lot of pictures when I was little, but that direction of creative expression was soon replaced by school work. Now, I'm beginning my art journey with a new dedication. I love exploring new methods and learning new techniques. Currently I'm enrolled with a local artist who teaches watercolour painting. I'm really enjoying those classes! I'm learning a lot, but I'm realizing you can never learn all there is to know about making art. That keeps the drive going to learn more and to try new directions.

I read a lot of books. 'How to' books on the different techniques of making art. I especially like books about drawing - in graphite and coloured pencil as well as water soluble pencil crayons, and books about painting with traditional watercolour. I also like books about different artists, especially written as historical novels.

I also enjoy reading mysteries. Anne Perry, Susan Wittig Albert and many more.

By now you've probably figured out I collect a lot of books!! It's probably my biggest collection. I have stacks of books everywhere! My husband likes reading, too, so his books contribute to our collection. I haul boxes of them off to give to our library whenever it gets to be a bit much.

I enjoy reading novels and books about current events. I have a list on Good Reads.

Fountain pens!I like writing with fountain pens, and have a small collection of them. We learned to write with them starting in grade 1 in my school in Germany.

I've also learned how draw with them, at least a little bit. Not long ago, I did a weekend workshop learning the basics - very basic - of botanical art using dip pens and adding watercolour.

I like other pens, too. I like drawing with fine line markers, but don't use them for coloring in.

I have a small but treasured collection of ATC's and art cards from friends in some of my online groups.

I'm very fond of animals. I love seeing wild life and birds and sea animals out in their natural habitats. On the west coast, we see a lot of killer whales, sea lions, otters and lots of birds.

I love dogs and have had several. We don't have any pets right now, but I'm hoping to get another dog some time down the road. I'm alwys stopping to say 'hello' to dogs I meet on the streets. They seem to like me, too;)

I love going to see art exhibits. I've been to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Mauritshuis in The Hague and Georgia O'Keefe's Museum in Santa Fe. I feel like I'm getting an art education through the back door because I have never been to art school! I'm very fortuante at this moment of my life, to be able to travel and take advantage of the treasures and exhibits in so many different places. My husband travels a lot for business and if I don't go with him, I hardly get to see him :( So, I'm enjoying it for as long as it lasts.

As a result of our travels, I also love taking lots of photos. Many of which can be seen on my Blog. I don't always take good photos, but they do serve to remind me of where I've been.

I'm also trying to be more confident to draw a quick sketch out in public when I'm travelling. That's sometimes difficult to do, especially when I'm constantly going places to see things! I don't always stop for a sketch, but can usually whip out the camera ;))

Collage and cut up photos or crafty bits glued on paper. I always wonder what the photo was meant to portray originally, especially if I can see it was something spectacular - like a photo of the Taj Mahal!
