The extended version of "Me"
Hi I'm Nancy and I am a mother of 2 awesome kids (20 & 16)! I was born and raised in Southern California and I married a cowboy from the Midwest (ha ha! Go figure!!!)...couldn't resist that Midwest charm!
Right after college I was thrust into the world of graphic design and computer animation which I thoroughly enjoyed until I became pregnant with my first child. Once I had her, I wanted to find something from home. The connections I made as a graphic artist aided my next few years as I took on the challenge of being a stay at home mom and a muralist. Let me tell you, it was probably one of the most fun times of my life thus far! Climbing up scaffolding, creating and painting was the best! Hard work it was, but so so rewarding.
When my daughter was three, I got pregnant again, but due to some complications i wasn't able to carry that baby to term. It was a tough time, but soon after We were blessed with the pregnancy of our third child. During the end of my pregnancy it became extremely difficult and dangerous to continue painting murals as moving and climbing scaffolding was becoming quite difficult!
Our third child, a boy, was born and that's when I decided to "almost" quit the mural business. I still did a few here and there and even now I will still do a request from people EVERY great now and then.
Having a newborn and a four year old who was just starting her softball career with T-ball kept me busy for a while.....however.... you just can't suppress an artsy person.
Which brings me to the next phase in life where my husband and I started a hobby of woodworking-building furniture; up cycling trash into treasure. We rented a Space at a local antique shop and was successful with that hobby for a while...our booth grew into doing craft shows which took us to travelling around the state to participate in various craft fairs. But as you can imagine having two active kids that was very difficult to maintain. So for a few years I became a stay at home mom.. Now I work as an art instructor for kids ages Pre-k thru 6th grade. LOVE teaching these kiddos!
——Most months you will find a streak(s) of color or colors in my hair.---- I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and live each day by His merciful grace-with that being said, I will NEVER force my relationship with Christ on to anyone, unless of course you ask me! I lead a texting prayer group, so if you EVER need prayer, I know some prayer warriors that can help!
Currently, I'm into watercolor. I love using it in mixed media, my bible journal & making cards. I love any types of paper crafts as well. I use to do years of traditional scrap-booking but couldn't keep that up, so I switched to digital. I now use my hordes of paper and embellishments to create happy mail, mixed media tags, journals and whatever else floats my boat at that moment. Most days I will be creating something for fun or working on art lessons for my classes.
---I'm a giver through and through so for the most part you will ALWAYS get more from me than a swap requires because I just can't help myself!!! I love to find the unique type of gifts and send it off in happy mail to brighten up someone’s day :)
