About Me

I'm an all around wacky person who hails from NYC. Craftsmanship is very important to me.

I love thoughtfully/carefully made hand-made objects. I'm interested in secrets and found items.

My alter-ego is a mad scientist (I wear a lab coat at work when the air-conditioner is too strong), and love to hear how we live in the future (robotics, materials science, and biological discoveries). Fun items on scientific themes are also welcome.

I want to find out more about obscure subcultures. Are you a member or fan of one? If you send me something gothic, afropunk, or steampunk I'll probably like it.

Things I could use:

  • something handmade by you
  • leather for sewing
  • indie comic books
  • zines and minibooks
  • recipes with veggies (though not neccessarily vegetarian)
  • surreal dolls or puppets
  • unique vagina art
  • meat themed crafts
  • a letter listing come-backs you wish you had said
  • a fake degree in something you feel I might like to be a Master or Doctor of
  • something celphalopod (Octopus, Squid, Cuttlefish, or Nautilus!)
  • a used board game or card game
  • something related to outer space
  • a used copy of a magazine I like (Make, Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Threads, Bust)
  • something gothic, afropunk, or steampunk
  • something scientific
  • beautiful fabric
  • fake non-fiction stories
  • ukulele music or accessories

Favorite Music

Magnetic Fields, Tsuji Ayano, TMBG, Amy Winehouse, fun., Tenacious D, Halifax Slasher, The Kinks

The podcast Song Exploder

My music taste is so broad that more discriminating people have said it's a lack of taste! Right now I want to know more about Rockabilly or early 20th century music. Can you help me with this?

Favorite Movies

Delicatessen, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Good Bye Lenin!, Being John Malkovich, Kamikaze Girls, King of Masks, League of Exotic Dancers, Arsenic and Old Lace, Mad Max Fury Road

If Men's Rights Advocates are railing against it, I am for it.

Favorite Books

Borges Collected Fictions, Malkasian Percy Gloom , Sedaris Me Talk Pretty One Day, Murakami A Wild Sheep Chase, Lethem As She Climbed Across The Table, Reichl Comfort Me With Apples, Roach Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, Barry Cruddy, The New Best Recipe, Raskin The Tattooed Potato and Other Clues, Huxley Brave New World, Pollan The Omnivore's Dilemma, Eco Foucault's Pendulum, Thompson Good-Bye, Chunky Rice, Nakamichi Pattern Magic

Favorite Crafts

Print gocco, food art, sewing, shoemaking, jewelry, I'll try anything once. :)

Comment: Wow! What a trip! I loved reading about your imaginary journey. I have been to London several times, but I haven't been to either of those museums--so much to see there! I'd love to return, and I'll remember your suggestions!

Comment: Wow. This is the best package I have EVER received on Swap-Bot. You went above and beyond on this one! Everything is so amazing!! I love the little ninjas. The books... I love the wind up robot (which is awesome awesome awesome) and the box he came in! I love the shrinkies you made. I love even the pin on your business card. I love it ALL! It was so amazing! If I could give you a 5 5's and 5 hearts I would! You deserve them!!!!!
Response: I'm so glad that you found the swap so pleasurable! Just for full disclosure, I don't think I made anything that I sent to you, they were all fun things that found their way into my life via The Sampler, swaps, real life friends etc. Really it was stuff too awesome to leave my house unless it found an appreciative home. Clearly it all has!

Comment: Thank you so much, if i could give 5 hearts I would. i had so much fun unwrapping the items. And those playing cards! Wow where did you get them? Everything was great!
Response: I'm glad you liked everything! The crazy cat playing cards were a stocking stuffer that I got that I found the first time I took them out of the package the sound they make is so extreme I couldn't really use them. But they are so cute, they really needed to go live with another cat lover.
