Note- I received something on 04/21/09. It was sent postcard style. It is oversized and just slightly thicker than a standard sheet of paper. There is a Bokowski quote on the back. I can not determine what this is or if it is part of a swap. On initial look I can't find any names that match up with a swap, but if it is yours let me know who you are and what swap it was for.
Hi!
I am a full time student studying to become a teacher. Just over a year ago I went back to school for the first time in almost a decade after becoming disenfranchised with the office life.
I adore things related to other cultures and areas of the country and world. I collect postcards. I love any and all of them, but especially enjoy tourist cards.
Beyond postcards, I really just enjoy any chance to get to know new people through the exchange of ideas and cultures.
I love the chance to be a member of a community like this that is bringing people everywhere together through common interest instead of dwelling on how we differ.
I am a movie fanatic, but not a movie snob. I have, what I've been told is an irritating, tendency to like something about just about any movie I watch. My favorites run the gambit from Goodfellas to The Wizard of Oz.
I must admit I read a lot of pop fiction. I am a Stephen King fan. I love Harry Potter and Twilight. I just started reading the Sookie Stackhouse series. I read and loved Lovely Bones, Secret Life of Bees, and The Da Vinci Code when everyone else was doing so. I am not ashamed of following the crowd in this regard. Our society places such little value on reading as a pastime that the stuff everyone likes usually tends to be pretty entertaining.
I've recently rekindled an old love for classic literature. I'd thought all the currently "popular" stuff had ruined me on real literature for good, but being forced to read Faulkner and Kafka has opened my eyes a bit.
I love Edgar Allen Poe, Dean Koontz, John Steinbeck and I read a TON of young adult fiction. YA is some of the best stuff out there these days.
I am one of those people that takes the easy road on this question. I listen to anything. It is true though. I love classic rock and old country music, but my mp3 has everything from those genres to Celtic to rap.
I spend just about every moment of my free time in the summer camping and swimming. I'm not hugely athletic, but I do love to spend time outdoors. Camping with my friends and family make the cold winters worth weathering.
Conservation and ecology are very important issues to me. I work very hard to teach the younger ones I spend time with to always leave things a little nicer than you found them. That includes the environment at large.
With the exception of dark chocolate (see below... blech) these are just guidelines if you need some help. I am generally easy to please and just love connecting and trading.
Likes - Postcards (most any) - fine point pens - sharpies (all colors and styles ) - heavy papers (poster board, card stock, etc) - Anything related to Irish, British or Asian culture - Harry Potter (I am one of those obsessed people) - white chocolate - James Dean - Wizard of Oz - Classic Rock - strange new snacks and sweets (I do draw the line at bugs lol) - pieces of currency from other countries - Large pieces of currency from my country :) lol jk
Dislikes - the only thing I would really say I HATE is dark chocolate. Nobody in my house eats it either, so it just goes to waste :( - I love religious art and I love items related to Eastern Religions, but beyond that I prefer not to receive religion related items. It's not a big deal, but just a personal preference. -I don't care for free or ad cards, but I'm not overly sensitive about it. I've found most postcard traders avoid them if they're not requested. I can deal with a few bad apples. - kawaii, hello kitty, disney, or anything cutesy or childlike. Just not that into it, and I don't have kids. I hate for someone to spend time and money on something that will sit in a drawer :)
I tend to be interested in darker things. I love black and white photos. I love folklore, the supernatural, and and being open to possibilities. However, I have one dislike in this regard. I don not like aliens. I don't like alien things, pictures, trinkets, stories, movies, and so on. I don't even really know why, but they irritate me lol.
