About Me

I am retired and enjoying the time to do the things I want to do, including travelling, reading, cooking, crafting and catching up with friends. Drinking coffee is fairly high on my list, too! I share a house with a friend, a cat (Coco) and a dog, Meg, so things are fairly busy and lots of fun around here :)

Favorite Music

Probably the only kinds of music that don't really rate with me are heavy metal and of all things, country music. Not sure why! I went to a Lee Kernigan concert once and that was the end of me, never again! Maybe just a song here and there . . .

Favorite Books

Love books and spend far too much time reading! Crime, fantasy and Regency romance (starting with Jane Austen) are favourite genres, but I will just about read anything if it takes my fancy or someone has recommended it. Scandinavian crime writers are a current hit!

Favorite Movies

Favourite movies are period pieces and ones with stories that attract my interest, such as 'Saving Mr Banks' about PL Travers is one example, but there are plenty of others! I also like going to Star Wars movies, loved the Harry Potter series and thought Avatar was pretty special. I don't watch horror movies at all and will not go to a cinema to see a thriller, mainly because I screamed out loud once and scared people in the three rows around me! Thrillers are now for home viewing!

Favorite Television

I love watching TV and enjoy things like Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, The Connors, Murdoch Mysteries and Vera (the books for both of these series were also excellent) and home shows such as Better Homes and Gardens and The Living Room. Some of the reno shows are also fun: Good Bones, The Masters of Flip and Home Town to name a few. Not all of them appeal though! Others include Hughsey, We Have a Problem and Have You Been Paying Attention? Finally, is anyone else as pleased as I am that Murphy Brown is back on air? Love, love, love Murphy Brown!

Favorite Crafts

Card making is a favourite craft, particularly making Christmas cards. I just love all the bits and pieces you can buy and have quite a bit of stash that just relates to the silly season! This year I also plan to make birthday cards, something I have never really done and probably should do - to use up some more of that stash! I have made ATCs in the past and occasionally completed the odd scrapbook page, which is something else I need to get into more as there is a trip from 15 years ago waiting to be finished in scrapbook form. Cross stitching is another interest, along with beading.

Love

Cats, of course! The dog I share the house with - Meg's not mine, but she is gorgeous! Buttons: they were a bit of a feature on the Christmas cards I made this year. Fun and a bit different! Most colours, just not pink. Lime green is a favourite, not that I wear it. Like yellow, it is a very happy colour! My footy team's colours are red, blue and yellow and they are the Adelaide Crows, playing Australian Rules football. If this helps with anything! I am also a member of Postcrossing and have been for (currently) about 170 cards! I enjoy getting cards from around the world, seeing the sights I have yet to see and even ones I already have! I love it that people share bits of their lives and that there is such a diversity of people on the site, from all walks of life. It is so very interesting!

Please avoid sending

Food items. I have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (and can't say I am thrilled about it, either!)

Flavoured teas or coffee. I am boring and just drink my preferred brand of black tea.

As for coffee, I tend to go to a fabulous coffee shop less than 5 minutes walk away for a daily cappuccino. I only have the one, just every day!

Comment: I agree with you and feel the same about dogs. They don’t have an agenda...they just live their lives and if they are mischievous, it’s just because they are having fun. Lol
Response: Yes, I can straighten out the rug, turn around and it is all messed up again, with a happy, grinning, tail waving dog standing next to it, just waiting to 'play' some more! Thanks for the rating and the heart!

Comment: Thanks for your lovely PC Γ‘nd stamp of your Queen. Nice picture! I remember eating minestrone a long time ago: a couple of days visiting Berlin (The Wall was still there) with my mother. It was rainy and chilly. The restaurant was simple, but the soup was delicious!
Response: Nice to know the card brought back a good memory for you. You will have to put minestrone on the list of things to make when it gets cooler!

Comment: Oh my goodness this one is special! We actually do this on the ranch! I inherited my grandfathers Allis Chalmers tractor, okay technically I claimed it as mine long before he passed. It was where I learned to drive. There are photos of me riding in his lap on the tractor before I was even a year old. It was always a good memory even with all the hard work involved. I put a Texas Santa on him every year. At Halloween the skeleton takes the wheel. Such a great card! Thanks
Response: I am pleased you liked the card (I did too!) and that it had such great associations for you as well! Merry Christmas in July!, Tracy

Comment: I totally laughed out loud at your "it's upside down, typical Aussie!" note!! I don't know if you have these magazines in your area, but I love the cooking magazines Saveur and Food&Wine (and Bon Appetit, to a lesser degree). Your travels sounded phenomenal and I'm happy you got to visit the West Coast! Thank you so much for your note & the cute pastel washi!
Response: Yes, well, I couldn't believe that I hadn't looked at the envelope BEFORE I addressed it! Next time I am in a really big newsagent I will look for the two magazines you mentioned - cooking ones are all I seem to read these days! I am glad you liked the swap, thanks for the heart and rating. Tracy
