I'm an adventurer, hiker, reader, thinker, traveler, writer trapped in the body of a father and administrator.

I'm married to a darling, beautiful woman and have two lovely boys who are dearly loved. And a cat. He bites me but I love him anyway.

How does one choose favorite books when so many books are so delicious?

Well, the top of my list are crime noir: Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. I have more recently acquired a taste for Ross MacDonald. In fiction, I also enjoy reading fantasy and some science fiction. In fantasy, besides classics like Tolkien, my favorites include Zelazny, Leibert, and Glen Cook.

I also enjoy a really well-written historical novel if set in an era I have an interest in, such as ancient Greece.

Finally, I enjoy non-fiction books, especially those dealing with mythology, history or, more specifically, military history.

This used to be easy but I don't listen to music as much as I used to. I think my tastes are eclectic but I'll let others judge -- Bach, Mozart, Isaak, Radiohead, Tool, Megadeth, Sting, Coltrane, Led Zeppelin. Actually, I like a lot of rock from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

I rarely watch actual TV anymore. But I do enjoy watching shows on DVD -- although I often fail to resist the urge to "watch just one more episode" which results in watching too many in a row. Some past and present favorite shows include: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, X-Files, Northern Exposure, LOST (season one, anyway).

I'm really just getting started although I used to paint miniature figurines, if that counts. For now, I am concentrating on ATCs as a creative outlet for my seam-bursting mind.

I love seeing other people's ATCs and artistic creations of other sorts.
