I'm a single mom to a beautiful 5 year old boy, Joshua. Joshua is my miracle baby, and you can read all about him on my website. I work full time, and I just bought my first home in May 2008. I am very excited! I spend my free time hanging out with my son. We enjoy taking our dog to the park, playing in his room, and reading.
Here is some general info on what I like.
Quilting - I love quilting; even thought I have just started, I am totally hooked. I enjoy using rich, bold colors (purples, reds, browns especially) and vintage patterns. I also love tone on tone and Black & Whites. I'm not a big fan of pastels, but sometimes they are the right fabric for the job. :-)
Sewing - I love anything sewing related! I collect old sewing machines (completely by accident) and accessories. My latest addiction in sewing is aprons, so I am always looking for vintage (style) patterns and fabrics.
Photography - I collect black and white and sepia photos of landscapes, vineyards, people pre-1970, Audrey Hepburn, close-ups of plants, pictures of old things. :-) I even frame old greeting cards if they've got cool pics on them.
Cooking - I love to cook. I bake my own bread, preserve what I can, and try to be as frugal as possible in the kitchen while still preparing healthy, tasty meals for me, my son, and our friends. As such, I am always looking for frugal cookbooks, canning/preserving guides, and cookbooks by the FoodNetwork chefs (especially Alton Brown, Emeril, Paula Deen and Rachael Ray). My latest love is Pho (Vietnamese Soup) and Fillipino food.
I have also recently gotten into gardening, and have found that I love growing my own veggies and herbs.
Embroidery - I collect and use embroidered linens (tablecloths, napkins, dishtowels, sheets, pillowcases, etc...). I prefer vintage styles.
Joshua loves to read with me, and he is starting to identify words on his own. Some of his favorite things to read are Scooby Doo, Blue's Clues, Clifford, and Charlie and Lola. I enjoy reading Agatha Christie, Lillian Jackson Braun (The Cat Who... books), CSI and CSI:Miami books, and books on living healthy and living sustainably. Some other favorite topics are frugal living, homekeeping, cookbooks (FoodNetwork chefs especially), canning and preserving books, organic gardening, living green, and quilting. I also love vintage (40s,50s or earlier) cookbooks or housekeeping books/mags. Oh, and I'm a raging Harry Potter fan. :-)
Right now, Joshua is into Scooby Doo (the original), and Mickey Mouse (both the old cartoons and the new "clubhouse"). He also enjoys most Nick Jr shows (Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, etc...) and Sprout shows such as Pingu, Charlie and Lola, etc... When I get to watch tv, I enjoy crime shows - CSI, CSI:Miami, NUMB3RS, and NCIS.
Harry Potter - any of them! I also collect Disney movies. I love anything Monty Python. I'm a big fan of British humor - not so much American humor...
We listen to just about anything.
