Sounds like we both found ourselves some awesome men. My partner is a biology major with a minor in anthro. He's a bit of a geek himself. He prefers to read or watch fantasy and sci fi. Has a great sense of humor, that's also a little dark. We don't watch TV but are old time Trekkies. His favorite comics are Maxx and The Watchmen.
I used to read a lot of fantasy and just got into it again when my son started reading again. The Edge Chronicles is an amazing story, but can be a bit "real" at times. I've read the whole series. The other one I liked a lot was the Lightening Thief series, but mostly because of the voice it was written in. Have you read Imajica by Clive Barker? I've read it 3 times, twice in paperback and once in hardcover. It's an amazing tale.
If you're really interested in tutorials, I just listed a bunch on my blog http://hedgehogandrabbit.wordpress.com. Most of the tutorials I find are easy to follow and well written, no matter the complexity of the project. I won't settle for badly written tutes. :)

I just noticed your comment on my profile about your boys and Pokemon so I came over to read your profile and wow, you are right we have a lot in common. Besides Dr. Who, I loved the 10th Kingdom too! My husband discovered Adventure time one day and now we are hooked.
The ghost story I will be sending you has a lot to do with my son, when he was little.things seem to happen around him, but as got older those things settled down. I am finishing my story and will get it in themail this weekend so you will have it by Halloween.
Thanks for the Pokemon wishes for Trent, I would be happy to send you some cards for your boys to get started with, my son has been collecting for 14 years now so we have a few extra.
