As a swapper: I promise to send. I promise to rate. I will give you a heart if you make a special effort and not because you add extra stuff.
I'm 62, enjoying a second career as a Jewish Educator. I work on school related projects and try to learn something new everyday.
I'm into Pinterest and spend way too much time watching tv. I love to sew and do paper crafts. I also like to cook but since I'm a vegetarian and my husband loves meat, it's hard to get psyched to try new recipes.
I'm lucky enough to have a sewing/crafting room, great sewing machine, relatively new serger and giant stash of fabric. I also make jewelry.
I love color...wearing color, decorating with color, crafting with color. I'm a pretty happy and funny person who gets a little down once in a while. Thanks to those awesome swappers who always stay in touch and share words of encouragement on the bad days.
I've been a swapper for a while and have come and gone a few times, mostly because I've gotten burned or bummed out. There's just no sense in signing up for a swap unless you plan to do it and I'm constantly perplexed at how many people flake or send crap. Life is just to short so I try to do my best and I trust others to do that too.
Please don't send:
scary things. (The world is a scary enough without any extra help.)
In one word, eclectic. I love: vintage vibe dresses, flowy linen pants and dresses(lagenlook), the classic combo of navy and red. The predominant color in my closet is a pale aqua (spring and summer) and gray (winter and fall). (Gray is very easy to mix with lots of color accents.)
I love romantic comedies, mysteries, survival stories, sci-fi along with all the classic B/W movies. Favorites include: Independence Day and ID2 Pride and Prejudice (PBS and BBC versions) Bride and Prejudice (Bollywood Version) Back to the Future (1&3) Indiana Jones Young Einsten Back to the Past Casablanca 2012 My Big Fat Greek Wedding Harry Potters Singing in the Rain Jurassic Park Only You The Secret Garden The Little Princess African Queen Twister Little Women (every version)
I love to read but don't sit with a book as much as a have in the past. Now I listen to audiobooks and my audible account has 300+ titles. Favorite authors include: Clive Cussler, Diane Mott Davidson, Jane Ann Krentz. Shannon Hale and Sophie Kinsella. All time favorites include: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux and Can you keep a secret? by Sophie Kinsella
Quilting and sewing garments crafting with kids decorating (although it's always on a budget) Crafting with paper. I'm really into making mini zines and mail art but I can't draw a lick so I do collages for most projects. (I just did a drawing-based zine that was so dreadful I'm hoping it makes my partners laugh.)
I'm a sucker for Hallmark movies and really love their mysteries. Favorite shows include (currently) Project Runway, Top Chef, Superstore, Hell's Kitchen and Designator Survivor. Other favorites include: Grandchester Tommy and Tuppence Bletchly Circle Brooklyn Bridge I Love Lucy (doesn't everyone?)
Let's just start with saying, I love color! If you imagine the caribbean seas, I'm there. Love pinks and corals, blues and greens. Sunny yellows, delicate purples. I stay away from jewel tones and anything autumnal like ochre, brown, tan, rust. I like silver and rose gold but not gold. Other favorites include: aqua and pink and denim blues (to wear) and tropical colors like turquoise, blue-greens (to decorate with).
Albert Einstein (smart people are so intriguing) Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn (my style icons) Fred Astarire, Gene Kelly, Ann Southern, Ginger Rogers (wish I could dance like them)
my family (natch)
my crafting space (even if it's usually a disaster)
my funky patchwork couch from Turkey
dark chocolate and milky way midnight candy bars
anything pink grapefruit flavored or scented
scissors (they seem to disappear so I'm constantly buying new ones)
nice lipstick and hand cream
card and board games
