About Me

Flickr may contain Spoilers!

Hi! My name is Rosie, I’m 23 and I was born in Surrey, England but I now live and study in Leeds. I’m a law student by day, compulsive maker of things by night. I love to bake, sew and I crotchet a little. I’m new to swap-bot but I think it’s a fantastic idea. When my great aunt was alive she would send me letters, stickers and badges from New Zealand, it was so exciting to get a package from the other side of the world. So I'm very excited to join in!

I currently live in a tiny house with my boyfriend but dream of a cottage with a huge kitchen in the Yorkshire countryside. We don't have the room or garden for a dog but my family have a ancient greyhound and a manic lab/spaniel puppy. But we do have a part time ginger cat who likes to visit for milk and a cuddle. Her name is Simba, but we like to call her Number 6.

I nearly always rate as soon as I open, so if you think I should have received something that I haven't rated you for, please let me know. I'll always contact you before rating a 3 or 1. If you haven't received from me please, please pm me before rating and hopefully we can work it out. Thank you! xoxo

If you want a private swap please pm me! I might not always be able to say yes but I'll appreciate that you took the time to read my profile and make the offer!

I take delight in anything naughty, silly, clever, witty, geeky or heartfelt. Handmade is always welcome.

I'm not easily offended so feel free to curse away, the more elaborate the better.

I also like....

Cake: recipes, pictures, anything baking related

Recipes: particularly Italian/Tuscan, soups, jams and chutneys. Anything meaty, I love meat (sorry animals, but you are too delicious for your own good)

Bobby pins

Pretty notebooks, note cards and stationary (preferably not spiral bound)

Pink sparkly things (yeah, shoot me!)

Brown paper packages tied up with string

Speedball Speedy Carveing medium - I've just stated making my own stamps but it's really hard to get hold of this over here.

Rainbow colours, brights and pastels

Pencils with slogans, anything from "Love from Leeds" to "bite me"

Fabric: cottons, wools, tweed, linens, fleece, florals, bold colours, pretty/cute patterns, gingham

Embroidery thread and seed beads

Anything to do with the American Old West

Teacups and things with teacups on

All things Jane Austen/Georgian

Classic Winnie the Pooh

Traditional fairy tales, myths and legends

Softies/stuffies, particularity mis-fits or soft, strokeable stuffies - I love all things Jellycat in particular

Scents: lavender, rose, lemon, mint

But really, I’m down with anything :)

Nicholas Cage (but he probably won't fit in a jiffy bag so I think I’m safe)

My least favorite colour is orange

Black licorice

Not massively into Disney or hello kitty

I don't scrapbook or make cards so please don't waste lovely supplies on me!

Favorite Books

Discworld, Jane Austen, Angela Carter, Raymond Chandler, Bridget Jones, Daphne du Maurier, Tintin, Dennis Mckail

Favorite Movies

Withnail and I, Team America, Shaun of The Dead, The Railway Children, Legally Blonde

My BF feels left out...

My lovely boyfriend loves the idea of swap bot, but as it's mainly ladies on here there aren't many manly swaps for him. So If you feel like sending him a little something he would be thrilled! He likes:

All types of dogs particularly Alsatians/German Shepherd

WWI/WWII history

Orange chocolate

Mooses (seriously, he loves them)

Comment: Will re-rate if I get a story.
Comment: I hope for at least a note saying you'll be delayed or simply can't do the swap.
Comment: I really do dislike leaving 1's but the swap is still marked not sent and I have had no communication from my partner. I will happily change this rating when I receive it. Thank you.

Comment: The covers you made for this is so darling! I hope you don't mind but I'm going to finish filling out the rest of the pages with movies I watch. I agree with you about Alice... Kind of a let down. I think we're the only ones on the planet that felt this way.. =) Thanks again!

Comment: I really loved your journal! I am still giving you the 5 and a heart because I love it so much, even though it was really really late. haha. But thank you so much for sending it!! I love it!!! You have to tell me how you did the pages in the book like that. I have been trying to find a nice way to make old-looking crumpled pages like that which can still stay strong!! =D Thank you! Your town is beautiful!

Comment: Slightly carried away? Have you lost your mind? I only sent a postcard. And, in return, I get ephemera, embellishments, stickers, an adorable photo of your pooch, etc. Wow. I was blown away and I wish I could give you 100 hearts. :) Thank you VERY much for your kindness. We LOVED it ALL!
Response: Ha, yeah swap-bot does have that effect on me! I'm so pleased you liked everything!

Comment: Thanks for you story beginning -- I'm impressed. Most young writers don't take the time to develop setting and characters as fully as you have in this opeining, and you've set up a possible story too. it's a good start.
Response: Thank you x

Dear Rosie, I just want you to know how incredibly moved I was by your kindness and compassion in responding to my mother's death. You are really the sweetest. Other people were a big cold about me being late, but you actually mentioned my loss and said something nice about my mother. I cannot tell you what a big heart you have and how much your simple yet moving comment helped me towards healing. I guess we all want our losses to be taken seriously by the "outside world". You have an enormous heart. Thank you so very much.
