I wanted to let you know I received your first "summer of finishing" letter. Good luck! And thanks for the lovely bee card. I know what you mean about the unease of facing these unfinished pieces.
I see you're an academic, I'm working on my PhD in rhetoric. I took Latin from grades 8-12 and then a semester in undergrad. I wish I could recall more of the language now... it kind of floats around in my head when I try to recall it. You are right about translating being a craft - and an art - it takes a deft touch to stay true to the original while conveying a good sense of the piece into another language.
I'm happy to have met you! Good luck on your work!
Many many thanks for your adorable "Rooster" picture postcard! Its really an off the beat photo you snapped! Yes, the poor rooster seems caught for good. Rebecca, you made my day.
Thank you So much for your beautiful postcards. I absolutely loved hearing little bits about your life. The lake sounds like such a fabulous place to be in summer!!
Thank you for angeling it was so great to get something for the swap.
Thanks for the Cento invite, it is certainly something that interests me, and I am glad that you brought the swap to my attention. Are you familiar with the Somonka form? It seems tailor-made for a swap-bot poetry experience. It is a Japanese syllabic form made up of two Tankas (5-7-5-7-7) and is epistolary in nature (and collaborative), with the first Tanka being written from one writer to the other, and the second Tanka being a response. While these are usually love poems, they can be merely epistolary.
OK. Poetry professor hat, off.
Thanks again for the invite, and the photos and diary entries and kind words in the past. I am looking forward to the Cento swap.
I just wanted to let you know that I received the first letter from the Summer of Finishing Swap... and what a lovely letter it was! I love your projects and wish you all the best in finishing them. Thanks, also, for the well wishes with my own project and for the postcard (though I'm jealous you have persimmon trees...)... I look forward to your second letter and hearing of your progress^_^
You're so thoughtful! Thank you for ANGELING Shot of the month for a SECOND TIME! I love your photos by the way, they are very much in line with the type I love - nature, abstract, catching unique lighting and shapes.
peace, Holly
