NOTE: Above, you'll find my Janetstore Wishlist - it's mostly for keeping track of things I want to buy, so there's some expensive-ish stuff on it. I don't expect anyone to buy me that stuff! However, if you're looking to do a profile gift or somesuch - a cheap item from my wishlistlist will surely make me smile!
I'm Amanda, a 29 year old chemist in Arkansas. I love to craft - especially crochet, embroidery, and sewing, and love antique patterns. I read voraciously on about any subject. I'm interested in ancient Greek and Roman culture, cooking, just about anything Japanese - language, food, culture, music, all things kawaii, classical Greek and Latin languages, voluntary simplicity, the Victorian era, history, different religions and belief systems (though I don't subscribe to one myself, I do find them interesting), chemistry, physics, astronomy, biology, mathematics (though I'm terrible at it!), Hello Kitty, pen pals and swapping.
Currently reading Plato's "Republic" - it's SO good!!
I like mostly non-fiction books like things on science and history, encyclopedias, biographies, and dictionaries. Been reading a lot of ancient Greek and Latin authors lately - Hesiod, Homer, Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Virgil, Apollodorus, Cicero. I don't much like fiction, though I have read some fiction that I like; namely old horror and sci-fi/fantasy. I love H.P. Lovecraft, Thomas Ligotti, Lord Dunsany, Ambrose Bierce, and Algernon Blackwood. Also, I like Victorian-era cookbooks and housekeeping books. I like a lot of poetry - favorites are Keats, Baudelaire, and Tennyson.
Favorite artists are Kanon Wakeshima, Malice Mizer, Lefty Frizzell, Hank Williams, Sr., and Johnny Cash. I like a lot of old country music, but I can't stand the new stuff! I also like classical music, opera, classic rock, a lot of Japanese music, and a little electronica and modern rock. Don't much like a lot of modern rock, though, or American pop (love Japanese pop!) or rap/hip-hop.
Other favorite artists are: Ali Project, The Streets, Pink Floyd, Ray Price, Meiko Kaji, Versailles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, M.I.A., Marty Robbins, Nick Cave, Ai Otsuka, Oasis, Aural Vampire, Nirvana, Keny Arkana, Kalafina, Merle Haggard, Tomoe Shinohara, Nine Inch Nails, Kaya, Asriel, Rasputina, Rokugen Alice, KMFDM, Yousei Teikoku, Vanilla Ninja, Kokushoku Sumire, Mazzy Star, Hank Snow, Shukar Collective, Aiko, Alice in Chains.
Anything Japanese, sax blue, pale pink, lavender, mint green, anything handmade, Victoriana, Hello Kitty + other Sanrio/San-X/Q-Lia/Crux characters, chemistry, physics, math, biology, history, the Japanese language, nature, crochet, yarn, beads, origami paper, paper clay + molds, anything kirakira (sparkly), amarori style + Japanese street fashion, Kindle e-books, papercrafts, Pre-Raphaelite and Rococo art, bentos (I collect them and onigiri holders/molds), cute felt + amigurumi patterns, iced tea, incense, chocolate, PDFs, nori, field guides, soaps and candles, recipes - especially for game, wild edibles, Japanese food, good bento dishes and canned/pickled/dried/preserved foods (and I'm looking for a good macaron recipe, too!), coffee, chocolate, stickers and stationery, pends and pencils, crochet + sewing patterns, ribbon, deco tape, rubber stamps + stamp pads, hanko/inkan + fude + sumi ink.
Yellow, orange, anything citrus flavored, peanuts, berries, mushrooms, Western European languages and cultures, most modern rock, country, and pop music, most modern art, rap/hip-hop, most fiction - especially romance novels and mushy stuff, hot tea, peppers, organized religion, politics, economics, "chick-lit," pineapples, the military.
I'm only allergic to 2 things - strawberries and tomatoes! I like strawberry scented things (but not so much tomato scented things...hmmm?), but I cannot eat anything strawberry flavored, real or artificially flavored (I am also allergic to artificial strawberry flavor) or tomato flavored.
Cigarette/incense smoke and animal fur dosen't bother me at all!

Hi! I've sent a PM and also a copy of the PMs to your email addy in case your PM is still not working. You can reply through the email. :)
Amanda! I saw your comment. :D I changed the dates on our swap because I don't know if I can afford to mail it next week - my mail to you weigh more or less 500 grams and don't know if I can afford it without endangering my daily necessities. Lol. Hope your PM will work again and you can notify admin about your problem. Take care. :)
