Hello! I'm Phoenix, a young woman currently living in Oregon. I've been all over America and lived in many of its states. My favorite places were always small towns nestled in the mountains or forests. I'm also partial to the New Mexico desert as that's the place of my birth. My father was very bad so my mum and I left him when I was young. We spent years just traveling around America and even ended up in Mexico for a bit. Now I (along with my mum and younger brother) live near a major city and so I try to travel through snail mail. Many of my penpals are from different countries so I'm able to travel when I receive their mail. I'm also very interested in cooking and baking. My family is vegetarian and I am vegan so I'm always making meals and snacks. It's a nice stress reliever and it's just so much fun. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday just because of all the food. My mum has let me run it alone since I was in highschool. I like to do things a certain way plus it lets her relax and enjoy the day. My family is very important to me, they've been through a lot, especially my mum. So I try really hard to take care of her and my brother and our many cats. I'm not currently in school due to my mental health so I have a lot of time on my hands. I absolutely love gift giving and always try to find the perfect thing that will make who I'm gifting smile. I just really want to spread love and positivity because there's honestly too much pain and sadness and hurt in this world. That's why I thought I would try this site, I hope I can make at least one person happy if not more. I also love receiving mail.
I love most music, especially if it's poetic. Some of my favorites are Morrissey, John Denver, Stars, Owl City, The Postal Service, and Sky Sailing. There's always music in my home and it's been that way since I was small. Whether we're cooking or cleaning or just playing a card game, there's always some type of music playing. And a lot of the music that's played brings me back to my wildly wonderful childhood. Music is very important to me. Bob Dylan was my first concert. And my mum loves to tell me about her youth when she followed the Grateful Dead around. Those are still some of my favorite stories. Morrissey is my absolute favorite though, he helped me through a difficult time in highschool and is still helping me with my mental health. My mum's gotten me tickets the last two times he came to my city and it was so wonderful. She actually really likes him too.
Books (and really any literature) will always be close to my heart. My father read Where the Wild Things Are over and over to my mother during my birth. And I still have my favorite books from when I was a child, tattered though they may be. The fantasy genre is my very favorite, I love when there's magic and old languages. I don't care too much for these modern times and so when a book takes place ages ago (or even so far into the future technology is gone) I adore it. It also helps if there's just a hint of romance but I mostly love the adventure. I also adore historical fiction and especially if it's paired with fantasy. Though to be honest, I"ll read most anything (including dictionaries and textbooks).
Art has always been in my life and I love every medium. But collages are my favorite. I love hunting through piles of magazines for the perfect word or image. I'm just now learning about ATC's but so far I love them. I also love art journals. There's just so much potential. I always have a personal art journal that I'm working on, it gives me great satisfaction to create fat journals full of pretty things. And I usually make my own envelopes when I'm sending flat mail otherwise I just decorate the envelope, mail art is a love of mine. As for receiving crafts and art, as long as it's from the heart I'll be sure to love it.
I'm more interested in art or reading but when I do watch something it's usually animated like a Studio Ghibli movie. I do spend time on YouTube either looking for snail mail ideas or recipes. My favorite YouTube artist is Jonna Jinton, I play her kulning (ancient Swedish herdingcall) videos on a loop a lot. I am also a proud lover of Disney especially their older movies like Cinderella and Alice In Wonderland.
