Hi. I'm Danielle. I work full time in an academic library, which I greatly enjoy. I love reading and love anything bookish.
When I was younger I was an enthusiastic letter writer and had many international friends with whom I exchanged letters and even met a number of them in my travels.
After a long hiatus I have just gotten back to letter writer, preferring paper over electronic and have been pleased to find a number of groups to support my love of correspondence.
Life can be hectic, but I can always squeeze in writing a postcard. I've got a small collection of postcards that I have collected over the years (and now am constantly adding to my stash) and am happy to find like minded people who also enjoy exchanging postcards and a few words about their lives.
I have pretty eclectic tastes. I love literary fiction, mysteries, crime novels, spy fiction, memoirs and biographies, books about books. I collect Virago Modern Classics and Persephone Books titles. I use the library a lot and like to find forgotten authors on the shelves. I'm particularly interested in interwar fiction/domestic fiction. And of late I've been dipping into diaries quite a lot.
Favorite authors (in no particular order): Sarah Waters, Wilkie Collins, Edith Wharton, Alexandre Dumas, Elizabeth Taylor, M.F.K. Fisher, Ruth Rendell, E.M. Forster, Mary Stewart, W. Somerset Maugham...and the list goes on!
I love anything BBC, am addicted to Spooks/MI-5, costume dramas, and crime shows. My latest favorites: Downton Abbey and Life on Mars (the US version).
I love a variety of postcards but I am especially interested in:
-Art/Architecture postcards -- love seeing interesting interiors (and modern art/architecture especially--but not exclusively)
For art cards--I like nearly everything, but if you are looking for ideas my likes are broad: Impressionists, Abstract Art, Surrealism, Modern, early 20th C Russian (like Malevich and Rodchenko), and Contemporary. Some artists I especially like: Norman Rockwell, Mucha, Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka, Cindy Sherman (love photography in general), Hundertwasser, Tamara de Lempicka, Modigliani, Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollack, Agnes Martin--lots as you can see!
-B&W photography (Nouvelle Images style)
-Photo/Art cards showing hugs & kisses (pls nothing too risque though)
-Art photography in general--nice and colorful, artsy
-Something about books or literature (reading women images are appreciated)
-Libraries and Museums (showing the architecture--interiors or exteriors)
-Retro postcards or something unusual?
-Cats (photos or art cards)
-Nature/Scenic/Flower cards that show something particular about your country, city or culture
-Map cards of your state or country (have NE, NY, OR, WA, MO)
-Famous buildings
-Trains, buses and especially metro
-Beaches/Waves/Lighthouses
-UNESCO WHS cards
If possible prefer not to get AD cards.
****I always send my postcards. If something is not received please do email me and let me know as I will happily send out another if the first goes astray. Please let me know before rating me badly. Thanks!****

POSTCARDS FROM AROUND THE WORLD ~ Week #48 ~ Thanks for the PC!!!
Thank you very much for your beautiful card for week #47 (52 PC / YEAR) ! Have a nice day, Jean-Mi. (Cadfael57)
Thanks for the cat postcard for Week 45. One of my cats was on thyroid tablets for the last two years of her life. She quickly got used to the twice daily tablet taking. She would sit in the kitchen each morning waiting for the tablet, although she hated having them. She did enjoy the increase in food that she was allowed to try and keep her a healthy weight.
Thank you for the postcard for Week #38!
Thank you so much for the gargoyle! I actually only have one postcard with a gargoyle I bought in Paris years ago! :-) I already know this will be one of my top favorites from 52 in a year.
WEEK #22 thank you VERY much for an extra cool card and three new to me postage stamps
Thank you for the pretty flower postcard for the week 17 !
