I’m a preschool teacher in Connecticut. My husband I have moved around a lot, we even spent one year in China teaching English. He is a professor of Asian history. I love movies, books, some TV shows, travel and Photoshop. I’m interested in swapping ATCs and maybe some inchies.
I read a lot. I spend as much on books as most people spend for cable TV. I am very flexible in my tastes as long as the book is well written. If I had to say what kind of books I like best, I’d say, anything out of the ordinary. I like books set in modern day but with a twist, like magic, time travel, vampires, aliens etc. Recently I finished the Twilight Series, The Sookie Stackhouse novels and the Host. I’ve also been reading up on Existentialism.
I hate sad movies- they make me sad, oddly enough. I prefer action, intrigue and explosions. But I am flexible as my list of favorites will show: Aliens, Terminator I and II, Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson, Dangerous Liaisons, Princess Bride, Fight Cub, The Matrix, The Quick and the Dead…
Most recently I have watched Dexter, True Blood, and The Wire sent to me by Netflix. I have made the most digital icons out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. These shows have a big online fan base and there have been a lot of icon contests based around these shows.
I have been competing in Livejournal digital icon contests online for awhile now. These tiny creations are only an inch square. You can imagine why I might want to branch out into the ATCs! I'd like the option of more room. Unlike many folks on this site, I’m not seriously crafty. Most people use Photoshop, like I do, for their digital creations. Recently, I have been mixing computer images and different media to get the ATC look. I’ve enjoyed doing projects based on movies, books, and TV shows but I’m up for other themes as well. Digital art might look like it is fast and easy but it actually takes an almost obsessive personality and dozens of hours to create just one finished piece. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my efforts without worrying if I'm going to win or lose a contest. The idea of actually getting something back from someone else is just amazing.
