hello partners! i've sent everything over the labor day weekend so PLEASE contact me if you haven't yet received your swap.
i'm gennesis. it's pleasure to meet you.
freshly twenty. aapi. kiddish. bookish. impish. chest deep into guitarish. duvet enthusiast.
i take my lemonade two parts sour to every part sweet.
i've got soul but i'm not a soldier.
i'm excited to start swapping. i'm no trained artist--i'm just a sucker for crafting & scrapbooking, painting & embroidery. i make plushies: animals and other ephemera. i'm pretty handy with a needle.
artists i love include: the beatles. broken social scene. chopin. clare & the reasons. death cab for cutie. the faint. feist. lauryn hill. billie holiday. jack johnson. norah jones. ingrid michaelson. the killers. mud. the postal service. prince. puffy amiyumi. reggie & the full effect. sean ono lennon. she & him [zooey deschanel!]. the shins. elliot smith. snake river conspiracy. the stars. the strokes. tears for fears. the most serene republic. tegan & sara. tom waits [alice]. the yeah yeah yeahs. i'm all about jazz standards & sweetly played stringed instruments. i also love punk & ska.
a few of the films i treasure are: amelie. closer. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. fight club. garden state. idlewild. juno. a little princess. in the mood for love. moulin rouge. phantom of the opera. rent. the royal tenenbaums. la science des reves. shimotsuma monogatari [kamikaze girls]. sex & lucia. sin city. snatch. superbad. sweeney todd. thank you for smoking. a very long engagement. & wristcutters: a love story.
i rarely watch television except for a few gems: 30 rock. daria. extras. flight of the conchords. gilmore girls. house. the office. pushing daisies. & scrubs.
i absolutely adore urban art, and local sf/la cali coast artists: damon soule for his hyper abstract; alfie numeric draws me to her earthy women and connects me to my roots, adam 5100 and his spraypainting ingenue, amy sol and her muted fairytales, kozyndan & bunny, and most of all audrey kawasaki and her ridiculously sensual girls.
it's very hard to disappoint me. i am a sucker for sanrio goodies, but i like to stick to a handful of characters: only hello kitty, deerylou, my melody, badtzmaru, pochacco, chibimaru, landry, kuririn, chococat, keroppi, pekkle and a little bit of the little twin stars; kuromi the most... but i don't like cherries. and no spottiedottie.
i love retro & mod styles, victorian silhouettes, feathers, pearls and polkadots. i love all sorts of flowers, too--sakura &hibiscus &kalachuchi &roses & orchids. i love velvet &lace &silk, vintage fascinators and elbow length white gloves. i love feminine things, tea and cupcakes and frills.i love the look & style of zooey deschanel & anna friel from pushing daisies.
but i love a lot of things, really. i love the funk, even kitsch. i love stilettos, and random accessories, chandelier earrings and fabulous rings.
i'm an animal person, especially foxes, fawns, bunnies, bunnyfish, birds, and various sea creatures with tentacles and sea turtles.
&i love tasteful color schemes. i love earth colors, i love bold colors when juxtaposed with black. pink is lovely, but i can't stand most shades of yellow, orange or red. my favorite color is an elegant darkly royal purple.
i love cheesecakes, and artsy cupcakes. i absolutely love baking &decorating sweets. i make homemade japanese rice cakes--manju!--to pair with tea--which i absolutely love.
i love fruits, especially mangoes, peaches, strawberries and lemons.
i like handmade paper and i welcome cardstock. i love washi. and i LOVE recycled paper.
i subscribe to a lot of magazines, particularly giant robot, juxtapoz & beautiful decay. i'd prefer japanese, korean, and other european fashion ones. i'd even love some magazines suitable for the girlies 19-21 demographic.
lima beans, i suppose. ..and nuts. i don't like nuts.
i'm particular about country music, patriotic/political paraphernalia, folk crafts, most abstract art, and some recycled metal art--and please don't send me things with pictures -of people &/or babies. not really into fairies, either. other than that, it's quite hard to offend me.
& i'm allergic to most scented lotions, perfumes, soaps & make up. quite depressing, really.

I agree - January does seem far away for the artist journal swap. But I suppose we could begin decorating covers and do a few entries a month so they would nearly be ready to go when partners are assigned? Believe me, I am ever the procrastinator, but art projects always get me engaged and ready to create!
