I am the stay at home mom of two and wife of one. I make things to keep from becoming like the confused squirrel in the middle of the road who can't remember what direction she was heading.
Art, craft and cooking from other cultures are really interesting to me--everything from Japanese kawaii and sushi, to la dia de los muertos and tamales.
During the school year I lead a lunchtime literature discussion group at our elementary school, and am a Science Olympiad coach at our middle school. Having to prep for those sessions definitely keeps my brain awake!
You can check my customer feedback at my Etsy store--I ship lightening fast : )
I used to work as a metalsmith and loved making narrative pieces with lots of tiny parts. That could help explain why I'm fascinated with making really tiny softies, arranging them in tableaus and calling them pincushions.
Currently I am in love with wool felt, embroidery, sequins and beads...but that could change.
I have a big interest in children's literature--everything from Harry Potter to Stephanie Meyers, and picture books from every era are a huge inspiration to me.
While I'm sewing I listen to books on my iPod. I like mystery writers from the thirties and forties who make me laugh, such as Dashiell Hammett and Rex Stout. But I'll listen to anything that catches my fancy, and recently I loved "The Minotaur" by Barbara Vine.
Ugly Betty is the one show I try not to miss--great color on those sets! I usually like anything quirky, and as soon as I have time will watch Pushing Daisies. Most of all I love movies from the thirties and forties, and listen to a lot of them while I'm sewing.
