I'm 27. I live in Texas and have my whole life. I currently live down in Southeast Texas near Houston.
My family is extremely important to me. I'm an only child so I'm close to my parents. When I moved away from home (and I moved far...about 400 miles away) it was hard. I love to stay in touch with my parents through email, cards, and of course the telephone!
During the day I'm an elementary school teacher. I teach 3rd grade Language Arts/Social Studies. I love it! I spend my nights with Toby and Charlie(my cats) and in the comfortable cushions of my couch. I'll admit...I'm a couch potato when I get home after work. For me, my favorite TV shows and my pajamas are the perfect recipe for relaxation!
I also love to read. I'm a sucker for a good trashy romance novel. I really like the Desire/Blaze series that is out right now. I also enjoy "grown up" reads as well. Let me clarify...by "grown up" reads I mean something other than romance novels. I do enjoy contemporary authors and am getting into stories that are more mystery/suspense rather than happily ever after. Of course, I don't mind the other "grown up" reads as well. Ha!
My favorite authors are Carla Neggers and Lori Foster. I also like to read cooking/recipe, gossip, and scrapbooking/crafting magazines too.
I love to scrapbook. I started scrappin' in college and have continued the hobby. I've tried to branch out a little by trying altered projects and card making. Mostly, I love to scrap. Which means I've almost always got my digital camera attached to my hip. What I love most about scrapping is that I usually find myself along the way or discover something new about myself through the process.
I have also started a button collection. There are so many and unique ones out there! My favorite embellishments are paper flowers, rub-ons, and ribbon.
Cooking is another favorite pastime of mine though I don't know if I'd say I was great at it. I do like to piddle in the kitchen and have gotten better about not setting off the smoke alarms! I love to collect recipes and read recipe magazines and such. I make it a point to try at least two new recipes a month. I'm a big one for stepping out of the comfort box and trying something new!
This used to say blogging, but I've given that up for the moment. Now, thanks to a friend, I've become somewhat addicted to Facebook.
I listen to a variety of music. If I had to choose I guess I would say that Country music is my favorite. I listen to a little bit of everything though!
I love to watch movies! I can watch a movie over and over again. I guess that my favorite genre is romantic comedy. I love a happy ending! Some of my all time favorites are Beaches, An American President, The Guardian, Big Business, Dirty Dancing, and Beauty and The Beast. That is just to name a few...I love movies!
I try to make it to the theater once a month because seriously popcorn tastes better there. Also, there is something about seeing a movie on the big screen. Of course, I have a huge VHS and DVD collection at home. On Saturdays I usually put in a movie and just have it going in the background while I finish up chores and such. What can I say...I did mention I have this love affair with my couch! Ha!
I'm a reality TV junkie...what will I do if the phase ever passes! Just a few of my favorite shows are:
Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Project Runway (I'm quirky like this but I think Tim Gunn is so hot!), Survivor, Army Wives, Grey's Anatomy
Oh and I love game shows!
