My name is Chelsea. I am a young adult. I live in the United States. I consider myself to be very curious and I love learning about other life-styles and cultures which is why I signed up for swap-bot. I am pursuing a career in biochemistry/molecular biology, but I also have interests in literature, reading, television, astronomy, physics, cosplaying, archery, fishing, soccer, camping, hiking, writing, all kinds of entertainment (see below), acting, art, other cultures, video games, color-guard, role-playing and card games, and music. More into all of that later if I ever end up writing anyone.
I enjoy almost all kinds of music, generally only excluding some forms of country, rap, and modern hip hop and r&b. I would have to say that my absolute favorite genre of music is classic rock followed by classical music and film scores, alternative rock, and swing. Some of my favorite artists include Bob Dylan, Eminem, The Who, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, White Snake, Guns N' Roses, U2, Foreigner, Imagine Dragons, A Great Big World, MIKA, Lynrd Skynrd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Daft Punk, One Republic, Journey, Styx, Linkin Park, Supertramp, Adam Lambert, Stevie Nicks, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, Elton John, JS Bach, Ludovico Einaudi, Michael BublΓΒ¨, Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier, 3 Doors Down, and Queen
The amount of books I read is...well a lot. Although, my favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction. Probably because that's what my Dad read to me and my sister so much as a child. My favorites include The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein, books and stories by Ray Bradbury, Walt Whitman, Edgar Allen Poe, Anne Rice, Raymond E. Fiest, Terry Brooks and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; Harry Potter The Cirque du Freak Series by Darren Shan, The Great Gatsby, Classic literature, some teen fiction with young heroes and heroines like the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, and Dirk Gentley and The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I also enjoy some non-fiction that covers topics, events, or people I am interested in (i.e. I enjoyed the book on Steve Jobs)
My favorite movies include almost anything based on superheros, comic books, or the books that I read. I particularly would like to mention The Hobbit trilogy(still in progress), The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hunger Games Catching Fire, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holme's Movies, the newer and most of the older Star Trek movies, Austin Powers, Stargate, Indiana Jones, Starwars, Back to the Future,The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, X-Men Movies The Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, all Disney Pixar movies, Aladdin, Mulan, Wreck it Ralph, Megamind, Despicable Me, Ferris Beuller's day off, Gravity, The Lego Movie, Frozen, Django, The Great Gatsby, etc. (there are many more that I can't think off at the moment)
My favorite television shows include (like my favorite movies) almost any shows based on books that I enjoy, anything superhero or comic book based, comedy, comedy talk shows, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Shows that I am currently gushed over, or have loved in the past (still love them) include Scrubs, Dr. Who, Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., Supernatural, Reign, Criminal Minds, Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, quite a bit of anime (favorite being Soul Eater and Avatar the Last Airbender) Battle Star Galactica, Stargate SG-1, Indiana Jones, Star Trek (mostly the original and Next Generation), The Legend of the Seeker, The Game of Thrones, both the American and U.K. versions of The Office, Arrow, Smallville, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, The Walking Dead, Malcom in the Middle, BBC's Sherlock (probably the TV show I'm most into right now besides Gam of Thrones), How the Universe Works, Strip the City, Tosh.0, South Park, The Simpsons (all pets my family has ever had have been named after characters in the Simpsons), PBS's NOVA Program, etc.
My favorite forms of art that I like to create, would have to be music including composition, drawing and painting, jewelry making, baking/cooking, and writing.
When it comes to cooking and baking (which I've done a bit more of lately) I particularly like experimenting, making cultural and exotic foods (especially Indian Food!), and baking sweet goodies for my coworkers, friends, and family. So any great tips or recipes for that kind of stuff would be greatly appreciated.
Tea of all kinds(.....it's kind of an obsession of mine) except I prefer teas that aren't fruity (I still like them but they're my least favorite). BUT I'm willing to try any fruit teas sent, I've recently tried more fruity teas and have been surprised by how much I liked some of them, I guess I'm just a little pickier when it comes to fruit. No harm in expanding what I like by trying new things though, I won't say I dislike something specific until I've tried it, and if I tried it and don't like it then no harm no foul, at least I'm learning what I like.
Really spicy things (which is why I love Indian and North American cuisine, they are both known for spicy dishes).
I have a collection of hot sauces that I absolutely love. The Huy Fong Sriracha/"Rooster" sauce would probably have to be my favorite. So if there are an other hot sauce enthusiasts out there, let me know if you wanna swap.
I love Vernors, (a brand of Ginger Ale originally made in Michigan and I try to stock up every time I visit)
When it comes to sweets and candy, my favorite flavors are caramel and butterscotch, followed by chocolate. I like some fruit flavors unless they taste too manufactured/artificial. My favorite kinds of candies are also chewy rather than hard candies, but I enjoy both.
I will literally try anything food-wise. I love being adventurous when it comes to food. However it might be good to note that I am lactose-intolerant, but I still eat small amounts of dairy because unfortunately I love dairy products despite this little fact, I just have a limit to how much I can eat at once. I suppose it's not too important though because I doubt many of you will be sending dairy products.
I hope to travel all over the world.
I am a biochemistry/mathematics double major, and I have had the luck of already working in a lab and gaining so much experience at my age (something not many people can say).
I get sucked into tumblr and deviantart more than I care to admit.
I absolutely love trying new things. I find that I have to (and want) do new things constantly to be satisfied with my life. I don't like the feeling I get when I know I had the opportunity to do something and then didn't seize it. Such is life though and I realize that I'll have to deal with that.
I do not belong to any particular religion, I consider myself agnostic. I don't know how we got here or how we exist, I don't even know if we should, but I love watching and learning other scientists unravel thousands of the little mysteries the Universe gives us (even though there are infinite mysteries). I hope to become one of those scientists, a champion of knowledge in discovering the unknown.
Apart from Biochemistry, I also thought about a career in Astrophysics, the choice was a difficult one. Who know's though, I'm young, things may still change.
I'm grew up in Michigan.
I've taken four years of French so far and I remember most of it.
I have three cats and a dog, and while I love both dogs and cats, I find that I'm more of a cat person....but I wouldn't be able to live with more than three at a time...
I'll be joining swaps around times that I don't have to much homework and exams. After all I am a college student and that is a full time job, plus I have a job on top of that.
I am very involved in my brother's boy scout troop (937) and help out as often as I can by chaperoning, helping out our treasurer, filling in for den leaders, etc.
I absolutely love playing and watching soccer. I played for over eight years into my teens. I haven't been on a team in a while, but I'm trying to join a recreational, kind of laid back adult league right now. Anyway if you international swappers have any cheap fan merchandise from your countries team I'd be more than happy to swap with you.
In addition to soccer I love hockey! Although I don't play it. Being from Michigan though I am a huge Red Wings fan!
I love being adventurous. I love nature and camping and fishing and those sorts of things. When I was a kid, family vacations were camping 90% of the time, and I LOVED it. When it comes down to it I was always that girl that loved playing with dirt and thought bugs were interesting. I also love swimming in the ocean and in lakes (I prefer lakes) and my sister and I collected rocks, shells and fossils together as children so if you have one of those from a beach or quarry near you that would be awesome. Even if it's a cool rock from your backyard.
I love video games but I don't have as much time as I'd like to for them. my favorites are Legend of Zelda (all of them but my favorite being Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword), Team Fortress 2, Persona 3 and 4, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Nancy Drew Games by Her Interactive (I kind of have an obsession with those), The Binding of Isaac, Wii Sports and Play, Family Board games converted into video games, Rampage, OFF, Limbo, Slenderman, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Diablo games, Sims (and for some reason MySims). I've been meaning to play other games, but again I really don't have a lot of time, most of these I've played in high school or during summer breaks when I've had more time. Note: I would have made this list another section with other entertainment I like, like all of the other forms but it bothered me that I couldn't do everything in an organized order easily, it'd be weird if it was just randomly at the end.
My current profile picture a picture I took when I was dressed up to go to a colleagues wedding, before I left the house I took a couple pictures with my cat because he was being adorable....that is all.
I kind of have this obsession with tea and coffee, particularly tea. I love chai teas and black teas. I like green teas as well but I don't generally prefer them when I have a choice. My absolute favorite teas that I have had (so far), vanilla almond, yorkshire gold, caramel chai, and English breakfast and afternoon tea from twining a of London. As for coffee, I know it won't be swapped much but I love caramel and/or hazelnut flavored coffee.
When it comes down to it, I'll appreciate anything you all send to me as long as some kind of thought goes into it. I'm not too picky, I know I listed things I like above but I don't care if I get things that have nothing to with anything I listed. That's perfectly fine, because again I like trying new things too. So if there's something that you love that you like sharing with people that's great! If you want to send me something that's just wacky be my guest. As for sending to others I've really tried sending people things based on what I think they will like from what I can see on their profiles, I love putting thought into it and being creative even if it's just a simple swap. It's honestly fun sending to people who have different interests than my own because I get to learn a bit more about said interests, and it's a little mind opening. Anywho....enough said, I look forward to continue this swapping adventure with all of you, I've had fun so far, and I know there's more to come. ^_^
