I have been making stuff all my life. I'm currently into sewing and into recombining old stuff into new stuff. I have a major thrift store addiction. Currently I'm making purses, blankets, dolls, scarves, wallets, pillows, potholders, eyeglass cases, etc etc etc from felted wool thrift store sweaters. I'm also honoring others' handiwork by giving new life to crochet designs from the thrift stores (many of them probably created in 3rd world countries). I love recombining old jewelry into new, love papercrafts of all kinds, and am currently enamoured with fairy-related miniatures (my daughter's fault - I DON'T need a new craft, Aline).
Oh yeah, my "real" job is that I'm a librarian. I'm mom to Aline (another Swap-botter) and Walker (my live-in special needs Buddha - see mpssociety.org). My grey-haired husband of 24 years is a landscaper. We live in a truly nourishing home (designed by my architect brother) in the woods.
I love vintage Florida stuff, natural objects (from the woods, from the sea, from trees, lakes or rock formations), pretty papers, foreign language printing, surprises, natural fabrics, quirky indie films about families who love each other after all (Little Miss Sunshine, Pieces of April), and honesty. Mexican parephernalia is cool, as is anything handmade from a culture other than my own.
