Hello!! Welcome to my corner of the world. I am a married Mom of 4 (24,21,14, and my angel, Chance, forever 65 days.) I also have a 2 year old granddaughter, and another one due in July 2014. I presently live in New Mexico, but am looking forward to going back home to Montana or North Dakota when DH retires from his job.
I do work full time in management at a local ranch and farm store. I can hold my own with most people and cuss a blue streak, when needed. Crochet is my way to destress and relax after dealing with some of life's finest.
I have been crocheting on and off for over 40 years, and have more patterns and "to do's" on my list than I'll ever honestly complete in this lifetime....that's why I'm going to live forever!!!
My favorite colors are Autumn colors (nutmegs, golds, crimsons, cinnamons, darker greens, dusty plums), and jewel tones (royal blue, amethyst, ruby). I am not a fan of pastels, but will tolerate them, in small amounts.
I am a self proclaimed yarn snob!! I have an entire bedroom (minus the bed) dedicated to yarn and have a large stash of Red Heart, Caron, I Love This Yarn, and Impeccable that I use for items to be given away or donated to some of my Facebook groups. I have found, however, that I rather enjoy the feel of natural fibers and have an ever growing stash of lace, sock, and worsted weight hanks of yarn that are hand dyed, hand painted, or hand spun. Most of those hanks were purchased with no real purpose in mind, other than to be petted occasionally and admired.
I don't often get to have control of the remote, but when I do, I tend to watch the Hallmark Channel, and will seek out the Walton's on any channel. Something about the types of shows on today's TV has me yearning to go back to simpler, more wholesome times. I also have discovered Downton Abbey and am watching all the Seasons to catch up, since McLeod's Daughters has gone off the air and i haven't hacked my current DVD player to play my McLeod's DVDs (as they are formatted for Australia.)
I love Western music....not country...there is a difference. My favorite performer of all is Chris LeDeoux. He was one who could tell a story, through song, and be grateful for a hard working life and the things that meant the most to him-family. I also listen to Christian Music (Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, Third Day). However, I have been known to sing along to music from my high school and college days....from way back when.
I love anything by Posie Graeme-Evans (she wrote McLeod's Daughters also) and Jennifer Chiaverini (Elm Creek Quilters).
I love crocheting, sewing, counted cross stitch, and embroidery. One day, I'd like to learn quilting, but then I'd need another bedroom to hold that stash, as I won't give up my yarn room.
My favorite source for patterns is Ravelry, but I can also get lost in Pinterest for ideas (forgetting to come up for air has been known to happen). I do have quite a collection of pattern books as well.
I've developed an extreme like for "different" or exotic yarns. I have several skeins of milk/soy yarn and have recently received a hank of yarn made from banana trees.....oohhhhh, so soft!! I love that there is more than acrylic available!
I'm a bit on the OCD side, and prefer, if I'm in a swap, that the tails be securely tucked, or leave at least a 6' tail and I'll secure it myself. No knots, please!! Thank you!
I do have 2 dogs, but I don't like my items covered in hair. Nor do I like receiving items that smell like smoke or heavy perfume. My allergies tend to let me know when something is amiss. I don't have small children in my home at the moment, so please don't send items that are designed for kids.
