I was a geeky girl before geek was chic :)

Love nature, biology, birds, the ocean, mythology (especially Norse), history, all sciences, simplicity, antiques, quilts, wood, glass, the color green, different cultures, bones, postcards...

Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Kingkiller Chronicles, Alice in Wonderland, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, children's literature, science fiction, fantasy, non-fiction (science and history mainly) and so much more.

Making: Crochet, upcycling, wool felt, toys, peg people, sewing

Having: All of the above plus knitted items, educational items, busy bags, felt stories, jewelry, fun stuff, geeky stuff.

My kids are: J (Nov. 12 1998), Z (Nov. 13 2000), E (July 26 2007) and F (July 18 2009. They are all boys except for Z.

We don't really do gender-based things here. My younger boys wear pink and flowers as much as they wear their dinosaurs and pirates. They play with dolls, and my daughter hates anything pink or too girly.

We don't really do much plastic here, except for Playmobil, animals, and Legos. The rest are wood, wool, cloth, and non-typical items (pinecones, brass bells, shells, silks, etc). They love books, science things, trinkets and treasures, postcards, busy bags, things that their peg people can play in/rid in/sleep in, stuffed friends (especially handmade), marbles, and other fun things.

F's favorites: Purple, animals, plushies, peg people, butterflies & ladybugs, sea creatures, fairies, pirates, learning (working on numbers & alphabet right now). Collects patches and stickers.

E's favorites: Red & pink, sparkly things, hats (teen or adult size), Legos, The Hobbit, reading, science, experiments, flowers, "jewels" and fancy things, Spiderman, pirates, Captain America, flags, puzzles (45-100 pieces), maps & geography. Collects patches & stickers.

Z's favorites: art and crafty things, things to tear apart and turn into new things, like jewelry or electronics, history, steampunk, science (especially biology), computer programming, and dreams of being a famous film director. Loves nature and studying animal behavior, ecosystems, reading. green is her favorite color. Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Dr. Who, earrings (bigger the better).

J is a very quirky & geeky high-functioning autistic whose passions are gaming (RPG, board, CCG), physics, chemistry, Bionicles, and computer programming. Geek humor & bacon.
