About Me

I am a Christian, happily married and have 2 great young adult kids who are in their early 20's...I am very blessed.
I work full time but am one of those who loves domestic things....cooking, baking, decorating. I enjoy creating things. I enjoy good margaritas and make a mean blueberry/blackberry one.

We have 2 corgis named Osa and Nigel and a bunch of happy go lucky African cichlids.

Good places to learn more about me: My swap blog is still current as I host a few swaps each year. The regular blog isn't current but it has a ton of my old creations on it.....I'm hoping to get back to it one day.

Swapper expectations

Please contact me if you haven't received a package.

I used to host a lot here but then switched to hosting on my blogs. I started swapping/hosting here again last summer. My swaps are for creative people and meant to be outlets for that creative energy. Please don't join my swaps if you aren't willing to try. We all start somewhere!

I will be checking for filled out profiles and for no recent or unexplained low ratings. I do not have time to angel now because I work full time and feel that my swaps have plenty of time between signing up and mailing out.

I think it is reasonable to expect people to send nice items, not junk. I've recently given out 2 "5" ratings because I felt pressured to.

That being said, if someone sends you something that doesn't meet swap requirements or looks like crap (sorry) and you can tell they didn't try, then I will ban them from further swaps. If any of you know of a swapper that flakes that you see has joined, please let me know privately and I will make adjustments.

I tend to host USA only during the school year and add international over the summer.

General Likes

Starbucks Salted Caramel hot Chocolate, Crochet Snowflakes

Colors: I like most colors. To wear...I am fair with reddish hair (going grey) and jade green eyes.

Dr. Suess...Yertle is my fav but pretty much love all his books....Zoo, Fish, even the hats one!

I lean toward warm fruit and veggie colors so check out the grocery store for inspiration....warm reds, all greens including lime green, soft yellow-oranges, golden, purples, browns. I love warm autumn tones and like metallic colors like bronze, copper and gold. I don't wear a lot of blue but DO LOVE TEAL...

I love Burt's Bees ORIGINAL chapstick but please only send it for cold weather swaps from about Nov-Mar or it will melt.

I love BUTTONS.....all kinds. Vintage are extra special.

I have a thing for all garden critters along with mushrooms, turtles, tortoises, octopus, hedgehogs, snails, ladybugs, hummingbirds, song birds, owls, gnomes

I love handmade aprons and tote bags

polka dots,

pretty fabric,

buttons, bookmarks

garden stakes for the yard,

beads,

ribbon,

fun paperclips and sticky notes

LSU and SAINTS Football

Fascinators

twinkle lights

fluffy socks because my feet are always cold

herb and flower seeds,

cute cupcake liners (regular size)

I love Mad Hatter Tea Party stuff.

Fun HANDMADE pin cushions.

Yarn: I LOVE THIS YARN and YARN-BEE and Vanna White are good yarns, easy to find. I also like the new "cake" yarns with variegated colors in the skein! (please no wool b/c I'm allergic...I can do merino superwash)

Apron Swaps

For apron swaps:

I'm 5'2" and wear a small. Hips are 35" I'm short waisted so prefer flat front bistro style aprons with long sashes to wrap and tie in front. Pockets are cute.

I wear half aprons because full aprons NEVER fit. The bib is always too long and then I have to alter it

How I rate!

Reasons you would get a low rating: the swap was broken or dirty, if you flaked or didn't meet swap requirements.
As of 1/18/20, I will not change ratings if a swap does not meet requirements unless a new swap package is received.

I will always try to make contact before giving any low ratings or contacting the hostess.

Dislikes

PLEASE NO CANDY/FOODS AT ALL...I LIVE IN THE DEEP SOUTH AND IT MELTS. (I love plain m&ms but be aware they melt in the heat so be mindful of the season if sending them to me.)

I don't like things that smell like smoke or fruity/floral smells as I'm allergic.

baby colors like baby pastels or soft grey as it looks horrible with my coloring.

dirty/broken stuff/yellowing items/torn items. perfume. makeup. filigree or thread crochet (UNLESS IT IS A SNOWFLAKE) promotional bookmarks with advertising on them

Christmas/Halloween

I LOVE CHRISTMAS and HALLOWEEN and decorate a lot for both. I genuinely love handmade items if they are made well.

Christmas:

I collect snow globes and love anything related to Christmas...Santas, snowmen, Nativity scenes, nutcrackers, paper houses like Putz to display, birds, toadstools, pinecones and acorns. (I have 2 trees...one traditional and one woodland.) I also have lots of little trees decorated with only handmade ornaments. If you send me Christmas music, I prefer the old traditionals....Love me some Dean Martin and Bing.

Halloween:

I love vintage/vintage look Halloween decorations, fun Halloween signs and sayings, PUMPKINS, jack o lanterns, cats, black, orange, purple, silver, lime green..... I'm ok with cute witchy poo stuff but not creepy witches.
I love me some cute zombies, mummy dolls and Frankie!

Please note: Not into sugar skulls, I like the traditional stuff I grew up with...and I'm not into spell books because years ago I got one that seemed real and it creeped me out.

fabric

Retro/Vintage Halloween, Christmas, large bold modern prints, Robert Kaufman, Alexander Henry, Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Michael Miller, Japanese import fabrics, owls, hedgehogs, toadstools, mushrooms, "pin up girls' Garden gnomes by 'Heather Ross Blue', retro fabrics,
50's sock hop/diner's type fabrics, polka dots, vintage kitchen or retro kitchen,
big 'in your face' type prints, kitschy, paisley in bright colors,

Dotee Dolls

I typically use dotee dolls as ornaments. I am looking for Halloween (not super creepy please) and Christmas. Any in between is great toooooo!

Comment: Wow!!! Your adorable bookmark is absolutely perfect for this huge reference book I often find myself pawing through, trying to find where I last was. The mushroom soup recipe is perfect for the chilly weather we’ve been having here; I finally know what tomorrow’s dinner’s going to be! Last but not least I can’t wait to germinate the morning glories; Clarke’s Heavenly Blue is a variety I’ve had my eye on for a while. Thanks again for an amazing package!
Response: You are most welcome! I was hoping the bookmark would be a hit....it is one I made years ago and then forgot about until scanning my old blog! It was fun to make another one years later. Enjoy the rest and have a great day!
