Description:

This is my third time hosting this swap!!!

This Swap is for those of us who love making ATC's, but can't necessairily draw or paint very well:( This is a great starter ATC swap for newbies, or anyone who just wants to make one!

The basics:

  • You will create 1 standard sized ATC (2.5 by 3.5 inches) for your partner. Make sure the ATC is made of a sturdy material, like cardstock, chipboard, layered papers, exc...

  • This ATC should be Embellished Only. Think of it as a colage of embellishments (but the entire ATC DOES NOT have to be covered in embellishments!)! No drawing, painting, or coloring, exc...You can use 3D effects, chunky stickers, brads, charms, jewels, textured papers, ribbon, exc...!!! Be creative, but don't just stick a flat sticker on a backing and call it done! Take pride in what you can do! Make sure and use ateast 2 different kinds of embellishments on your ATC to give it variety! Remember to put your @username and the name of the swap on the back of the card!!

  • This ATC is Senders Choice, so you can get started now if you want!

Requirements to join:

  • No recent 1's or 3's (within the past 3 months). If you have a recent negative rating, please pm me before joining, and I will be happy to look into it! Otherwise you will be banned:(

  • A well filled out profile. Atleast 3-4 different sections, with a couple paragraphs in each will do. If you're not sure just ask:)

  • You must have logged onto Swap-bot within the past 3 days of when I assign partners for this swap!

Have fun...Be serious...Communicate...and do I have to say it? No Flaking or Non-Rating!!!

P.S. Package your ATC well to avoid damage in transit!

SF friendly swap = SMOKING FRIENDLY SWAP!!!

Please feel free to let me know of any questionable swappers you spot in my swap! I welcome the info, as I can't always keep up with all of the forums:-) This includes non-raters, and tag flakers as well!!!

I took a long break from swapbot during my pregnancy and I just started swapping again, I was just wondering what SF friendly means??? I've never heard of that, lol.

I don't actually think anyone else on Swap-bot uses SF friendly swap = SMOKING FRIENDLY SWAP!!! I'm just letting people know by including it that it's more then ok to join this swap if you're a smoker or live with one...and at the same time give people who can't stand the smell or are badly allergic an option to pass by this swap to avoid discomfort or being upset. Some people can deodorize their swaps quite well so you'd never know...but some people can't, and I want to give them a safe swap so they won't be terrified of receiving a partner who won't be kind about it.

I've had a wonderful time on Swap-bot so far, as no one has ever complained about the smell of my swaps...even before I started putting that statement on my swaps! However I've also heard of quite a few problems that other people have had, and I just want to avoid that.

Boy...I think I go to long on the explanations lol!!! Anyways...I hope this answers your question @mzkfiend ...and welcome back:-)

You know if you put your art in a baggie with a laundry dryer sheet it will eliminate the smoke smell. Thanks.

Laynie 10/22/2011 #

Actually I've heard that if you use a new dryer sheet with your swap it actually makes the swap smell terrible (sometimes worse then the smoke itself). It's just way to perfumed and sickening (I've received quite a few of these). I've been told to make sure the sheets have been run through the dryer once so it still covers up the smoke smell...but isn't overpowering. Unfortunately my daughter is allergic to dryer sheets, and I don't want to waste money by running them through an empty dryer. Electricity isn't cheap nowadays:( So I just elect to let everyone know ahead of time that it's ok if you don't take measures to cover up the smell (atleast in this swap).

Hi, I just joined Swap Bot and was glad to see that I can join up for this swap since a lot of them require you to have a rating. I don't have a rating yet so I'm hoping this will be a good start for me. Thanks.

What is Senders Choice?

Vagirl 11/ 1/2011 #

I've never made an ATC. Would this swap help me to give it a try?

Laynie 11/ 1/2011 #

Hi @Lilyjade ! Senders choice (for this swap) means the theme of the card is up to you. So instead of having to make an ATC depicting...for example a fairy, you can choose whatever you want to depict. The possibilities are endless:-)

Senders choice in general is just a way to let you know it's your choice on what to send...as long as it's still within the swap guidelines:)

Hi @Vagirl ! I think this is a great first ATC for anyone to try! This is just a specific theme swap, and I want you to keep in mind that most ATC's do have a handrawn/painted element involved. In fact that's how ATC's started out so many years ago...but as always art changes from person to person:-)

I personally LOVE handrawn ATC's, and recently gave it another try myself...but the outcome was bad! I love seeing what other people can create...and what they think art is, but I love doing these swaps as a challenge to make a theme with different embellishments!

I have a habit of ranting when I answer questions lol! I hope nobody minds:-)

Thank you Audra! I think I'll just give it a try. I can't draw either, maybe just trace something lol.
