Description:

Using watercolor cardstock, I painted my ATC with walnut stain. While the stain was still wet, I sprinkled regular table salt on the ATC. After it was dry, I removed the salt with a paper towel. This is now my background for making an ATC. The theme is sender choice. You may use any color of dye based color wash, I just happen to like the walnut.

I believe glossy cardstock will work too but it will take longer to dry.

In the picture is 2 samples using salt.

You will make one ATC for each partner.

What kind of stain did you use?

I have a jar of liquid walnut stain. I am sorry but it doesn't have a label. A friend split her jar with me a long time ago.

Is using watercolour paint ok? That does the same thing with salt.

If you do not have walnut stain then go ahead & use the watercolor paint.

I have found that regular table salt doesn't work very well but sea salt does a pretty good job.
