Description:

I see so many fun swaps where people have the opportunity to send and receive little envelopes of happy mail, but yet so many of those fun swaps are not NEWBIE friendly or lower rating friendly. Every single one of us was a new member once, and we had to really search for newbie friendly swaps. I also know that sometimes people are quick to rate someone less than a 5 simply because they didn't like a package. I know that sometimes things happen in life that cause us to have an issue with a swap. I am not excusing or condoning bad swappers. I do however, believe that those people with 1 recent 1 or 3 ratings, shouldn't be banned from a swap. So.

This is a NEWBIE friendly swap.

This is also a swap that will allow those with 1 recent 1 or 3 rating to participate. I believe in second chances. (However. I will be checking all profiles and if I see my poor rating option being taken advantage of, I will make changes to those signed up as needed.)

Now on to the details. This really is a simple swap.

  1. Buy a greeting card or if you want, feel free to make a card. (High quality) It can be just a cute blank card. Write your partner a little note in the card. It can be some words of encouragement, it can be an introduction note, or it can really be anything positive you want to write to your partners.

  2. What you include with the card is senders choice, but please check your partners profile for allergies, likes and dislikes. We don't want your partners getting something they can't use or are allergic to.

Some examples of what you could send are:

Sticker Sheets (NO reward, teacher, tiny or partially used or torn sticker sheets.)

Loose Stickers

Tea Bags (Wrapped in original plastic of course.)

Hot Cocoa

If you notice your partners are crafters, than please by all means, send them something they can use for their craft.

Your options are endless.

All items must be new or freshly handmade, not torn, not dirty

I can't control who smokes and who doesn't. So if you get an item that smells of cigarette smoke, there's nothing I can do about it.

I will angel if I have to. Please don't flake on this. This is a simple swap that isn't expensive to put together or to ship. This is great for those just starting out, those who are on a small budget or those who need to repair their rating.

It states all items must be new. Does this mean we cannot make something for our partner?

abbyaguas 04/ 8/2012 #

hmmm, did @Charlotexxx joined this swap? Just noticed that she's from the UK.

thisisme 04/ 8/2012 #

@kimpe - You can send something handmade to your 2 partners.

thisisme 04/ 8/2012 #

@abbyaguas - Thanks for the heads up.

hachiko 04/11/2012 #

This sounds fun! Looking forward to "meeting" some of you. Thanx for allowing newbies to participate.

pajaronegro 04/12/2012 #

pajaronegro 04/12/2012 #

thisisme 04/13/2012 #

Re: Not Being Able To Control Who Smokes.
And it might not be the sender who smokes. I found out that some US postal delivery people smoke in their vehicles when driving around &/or taking a break.

DixieDiane 04/23/2012 #

@Whippet Our mail delivery man smokes like a chimney!!! but we do have a smoker in the house that is not allowed in MY ROOM-but all my stuff is in drawers, boxes etc and protected the best way known and someone made mention that a piece of my mail smelled the other day-first time that happened :(

Whippet 04/23/2012 #

Thanks for comment DixieDiane, I'm sorry you have a smoker in the house. Though I don't have a smoker in the house, I do keep all my cards, envelopes, postcards, crafting stuff in ziploc bags. Not just to keep them fresh smelling as long as possible, to keep out bugs! Had my apt sprayed, I've put down boric acid powder to make my apt unappealing to FL's bugs.
The ziplock bags keep stuff "new" until I mail/ship out. I use a ziplock bag inside a large envelope, padded envelope as I found out postal employees sometimes leave mail outside on the ground, front stoop & could get wet from rain.

Looking forward to doing this swap. Go newbies!

Welcome newbies!!! Have fun!!!

hachiko 05/ 8/2012 #

I am working on putting my packages together tomorrow! This has been fun planning what I will give my partners. I oopsed though on the cards. I bought pretty cards but they are small. I hope my partners are forgiving.

WOW 16 FLAKERS!!!

StarGazer63 05/17/2012 #

Down to 9 flakers

craftygranny 05/17/2012 #

Can someone let me know how long should one wait before rating a flaker? Thanks!

StarGazer63 05/17/2012 #

@craftygranny personally, I would give it at least two weeks after the send deadline.

craftygranny 05/18/2012 #

@StarGazer63 Thank you!! :)

thisisme 05/24/2012 #

@craftgranny - I'd give them a few more days. I've contacted everyone that hasn't sent. If by next week they haven't sent, I will be banning them from any future swaps I do.. I try to give newbies a shot and well, its kind of sad that they can't follow through. Hell even non newbies its sad.

amandat0913 06/11/2012 #

sigh it's sucks being a newbie who's trying really hard to send great swaps, and in return i'm getting flaked on :(
