Description:

What are you good at? Do you make something, sell something, bake something, cook something, design something? Have you traveled to a particular place a lot and could you show someone around? Make a travel guide. Are you an expert at cake decorating? Can you speak another language fluently? make a mini language book with pronunciations. Do you eat out a lot? Make a restaurant guide. Are you good at watercolor, reupholstering chairs, decoupage, knitting socks, building things, painting, stamp-carving, making pie crust, sewing or hand-lettering? Then make a mini info-zine!!

For this swap, we will make 1 mini info-zine for each of 2 partners. Explain the basic how-to's of your specialty with as much detail as possible, including pictures (printed or hand-drawn), websites for further info, whatever other things needed to "teach" your partner. Fill it up & make it fun! Use colors! Make it interesting so that your partner will want to try it too. Even if you don't have a "specialty", you can still make a zine. Find out everything you can about a subject/hobby/place and create a "how-to" zine.

Your zine should have no fewer than 12 pages, using front & back, like this one.

Here are some other zine-making links.

~2 zines sent; 2 different ones received~

~must contain pictures, drawings or diagrams~

~must have 12 pages front & back~

Plenty of time to sign up & just over a week to send. Shouldn't be a problem since its about what you know & you can make the zines anytime. Usual group rules apply. I'll check profiles before assigning, but I'm not worried about a group run by @TangleCrafts

Watching for now - love the idea, though! :)

Is it a requirement that the mini 12-page format follows the template provided in the link above, or can an alternative format be used, so long as there is a minimum of 12 mini pages?

iLoveMail 09/17/2012 #

Great question, Su - any format can be used as long as there are 12 (or more) mini pages.

Thanks! :)

Similar to previous question: Does it have to be a mini, or are larger sizes okay as long as they have at least 12 pages?

KarensMonsters 09/17/2012 #

You have the number of partners set to 1, I think it should probably be 2. Looking forward to this one!

@camelsamba - I suppose it doesn't have to be a mini, but no larger than 3x5 inches. It needs to be full of info/instruction & I don't want it to be too intimidating of a swap. (Plus, I'd like to add the ones I receive to my altered journal :)

Thanks @KarensMonsters - I just noticed that too!

So 12 pieces of paper... Meaning 24 sides? Or 6 pieces of paper...12 sides?

iLoveMail 09/30/2012 #

1 piece of paper, like the link above (or similar). Just click it & see :) I think it ends up being 6 pages, front & back.

So... my zine is 2.83 x 2.75 inches. I hope that isn't too small. It sure is cute though!

Did I mention this was the first time I've made a zine??
