Description:

art journal pages

Not all of us have the time to create full art journals to swap. And a lot happens in life ... so my experience is that I can't join a swap which takes a lot of pages to create or a lot of time. And what if your journal gets loss in snail mail??

I set up this swap for those who experience the same. This is a monthly swap, so I will think of prompts (themes) with which you are to express yourself on those art journal pages. At the end we'll have enough pages to create an art journal/book, depending on the participation, of course;-))

Prompt 1: Create a page illustrating your Halloween in 2012; or create a Halloween page, if you didn't celebrate last year.

Use typical Halloween colours: orange, purple, green, black, a dash of white.

Bat's Black -- death, night, witches, black cats, bats, vampires, spiders

Pumpkin Orange -- pumpkins, jack o' lanterns, Autumn

Witches Purple -- night, the supernatural, mysticism

Monster Green -- goblins, monsters

Harvest moon Yellow -- moon

Bloody Red -- blood, evil

Spooky white -- ghosts

Prompt 2: Create a Valentine page; do you do something special on this day, did someone made this day special for you? If not, create a page telling how you imagine your Valentine (day). Is it a HOT or NOT? Think of using the typical Valentine day coloursΓ’β„’Β₯

Quantity: create TWO art journal pages using these prompts and receive two back. 2 for 2.

Size of the pages: 5"x7"

Margin: leave a 1" margin on the left of the page free from embellishment. This margin is meant for binding.

Orientation: Horizontal Only! When you make the margin the page MUST be horizontally!! But you MAY create landscape or vertical.

Finish the back of each page you create, with your art or with patterned paper. State your swap-bot name, real name, the themes of the pages and the name of the swap on the back of each page. Nice is if you sum up the mediums/technique you used.

MUST: you MUST use a colour medium (acrylic paint, watercolour crayons, watercolour pencils, etc.) is some way! Just collaging , just using stickers or just writing is not it. Make a good combination of the different techniques:-)

Art journaling is a way to express yourself. But leaving pages white/gray of just slapping some paint on a page is too easy. So get it and be very, very, very creative. Keep the quality high!!

Any kind of cardstock can be used (please recycle; time is financially tough, so buying is not necessary!!), but of course it is sender's choice. On art journal pages water is a normal addition to mediums, so use scrap cardstock which is sturdy enough to carry the water layers on it. Please be sure that the cardstock is of substantial weight, because these pages may eventually be bound into a journal.

P.s: any ideas for prompts are welcome; just send me a message. I am willing to host.

Have fun!

You could have a prompt for celebrate day, each country probably has a day of the month on the calendar that is celebrated that other countries don't have. for instance I am from Canada and we have Earth day on April 22 so I could do a page for earth day.

I hope this makes sense.

A great idea, emilie38!

Just to make sure: you want the 1" margin on the short side of the paper , on the 5 ' side? But the way you decorate the page can be with short side up or long side up

You got it, vronica!
