Description:

This swap is for the mothers of tweens, which for our purpose we will define as 8- to 12- year old boys and girls. As those of us with children of that age group can attest, this is a trying time for both child and parent. As the mothers of these young pre-teens, we must have extra patience and love, especially during those trying days when we don't know how we will make it through.

For this swap, you will send your partner three items:

  1. A letter, introducing yourself and your child(ren). The main focus should be on your 8-12 year old(s), and your parenting of the same. You may discuss in your letter the challenges that you face in parenting these children, the happy times, the things that make parenting of tweens easier or harder then parenting children age 7 and younger. Maybe offer some words of encouragement to your partner about the challenging days.

  2. Something for mom...this should be some small ($5 limit) item(s) that mom can use to relax and have a little "me" time. Some examples that you can send (and you may mix/match, just keep the total under $5): teas, cocoa, candies, a good book, blank journal, bath/spa items.

  3. Something for your partner's tween...this again should be $5 or less. You may want to put your tween's age and gender in the comments before the start of the swap, or make sure that the info is on your profile. Send something that a tween can use and appreciate. This could be school supplies, small/inexpensive clothing items (socks, hat, etc.), music CD, book, or craft supply.

I think this will be a fun way to get to know some other moms that are in the same stage of life. This could also create friendships that last! Please just keep in mind that you should not send something that you would not wish to recieve.

Requirements: Please have a 4.5 or higher rating for this swap. No 1's or 3's recently. Swap is USA only to keep postage cost down. Also, you must have at least one child in the 8-12 year age group.

I have a 10 yr old daughter, she'll be 11 next month. She's a tomboy who likes anything to do with horses. :)

My daughter is 10 (though sometimes I think she belives she is 25). She loves arts and crafts, and anything to do with Justin Beiber. Her favorite colors are bright blue, green, pink, etc.

I changed the sending date and extended it out by a week. Looking over most of the swaps I am/have been in, it seems that 5 days would be a bit fast :-) This is my first time hosting a swap, so if anyone has suggestions, please by all means let me know, either by PM (which I may get to faster) or by posting here!

My daughter is 8. I guess she is starting early on becoming a teenager. She loves Hello Kitty, stickers, temporary tattoos, Monster High, Justin Bieber.

My daughter is 10. She loves Hello Kitty, scary stuff (just like me....lol), Monster High. Her favorite color is blue. She enjoys making things and being crafty. She likes to read.

Sorry guys. I just assigned partners...life got busy the last few days, and I have no internet at the moment.
