Get Together - IL and MO Swappers

Where does everyone live?? I'm in Granite City, Il/ St Louis.

I'm in MO, close to Columbia.

I am also in Missouri. Just outside of Kansas City.

I am in Waterloo, IL about 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis.

I am in Percy, IL about 1 hour from Waterloo, IL

I'm in the far west suburbs of Chicago... St. Louuis seems the to be the natural gathering point. I am the outlier.(yay math!) :)

Wow, several of us are pretty close, lol. I live in St. Charles, MO. which is about a half an hr from St. Louis.......I think St. Charles would be a great place to meet. We have a GREAT Main St., historical district here with cobblestone streets and lots of little shops and eateries.We have Michael's, Joannes, and Hobby Lobby all within about 5 miles from here. I also thought of Kansas City and maybe stay overnight, even here in St. Charles. I dont travel to St. Louis, though. I dont know my way around and consider it to be unsafe at best. Anyone else have some thoughts?

Rachel said she would share some sb goodies with us if we can pull this together! I am so excited to think about meeting some of my sb friends in person! I have been lucky to meet one (Mimi7) in person so far and we hit it off! Yipppeee! I moved to MO last year & live in Mt. Vernon, which I am not sure but far from St. Louis. My DIL also is a member & she lives in this area, maybe we could get together & drive there...sounds like fun

Hello all. I have lived in St. Louis for over ten years, but I am from Illinois. Actually I live in the St. Louis County. I would have to agree with @sammie91 about St. Charles, MO. It is one of the most charming places I have ever been. It would be a wonderful place for a meeting. There are some great shops and some wonderful restaurants. I do have to disagree a bit with sammie91 regarding St. Louis being unsafe. There are certain areas in St. Louis City that would be considered unsafe, but there are many wonderful areas that would be more than safe for a meeting. I actually just asked my husband his opinion and he agreed with me - he is a police detective here in St. Louis but when I met him he was a police officer in one of the worst parts of St. Louis City. Anyway, sounds like a lot of fun. :)

I cannot wait to meet everyone. I would love to swap some things with people. I have way too much stuff for one person. Also, would everyone like to make an atc or 2 to honor this get-together?

Hello again I agree St. Charles is a great place to spend the day. I had thought about going to The Lake of the Ozark, The Bagnell Dam area. My son lives & works there. If we chose to spend the week-end I'm sure he could get us a deal at a motel or condo in the area. I'm sure he coud get us at least one free meal at the restaurant he works for. He is the head chef. There is the outlet mall and lots of stores in the area. My daughter is also a member here on swap-bot and I'm sure she would be interested in joining in on the fun, whatever we chose to do.

I forgot to mention The Lake of the Ozarks is about half way between St. Louis & Kansas City.

I have never been to the lake, but would love a weekend getaway.

There are a lot of increcible areas in the city of St. Louis to meet in. It is not unsafe all over and the crime in the area is gross overstated. Areas of north St. Louis and north county are bad as are touchy spots of South St Louis. The crime is inflated to include East St. Louis --but that is in Illinois. However the Lake of the Ozarks wouldn't be bad and neither would St. Charles.

I really love St. Louis and I don't find it to be unsafe, Wow.

I, too, am in the far west suburbs of Chicago (Hi @sugarskull we're neighbors!) and think this is an amazing idea and opportunity to meet other Swap-botters in our area! :)

okay: if i take the amtrak to st. louis, would someone be able to pick me up in st. louis or kirkwood?

Idea: We could stay in St. Charles, which is close to several craft stores and tons of little shops on Main. St., maybe head to St. Louis for those who would also like that OR, go to the Lake of the Ozarks.
