Description:

For this swap, you will make one Zentangle DIPTYCH for one partner. A diptych is any object with two flat plates attached at a hinge.

For the purpose of this swap, each participant will make 2 ATCs that are matched together by design- you may choose to hinge your ATCs, or leave them unhinged for ease of shipping. The decision is up to the artist. Each piece should be sturdy and 2.5 X 3.5 inches in size.

Feel free to use additional colors and make something for your partner that you would love to include in your own collection. Here is a link to some inspiration.

Have fun!

I made mine this way... two ATC size cut from cereal boxes. Placed them close together with a gap to allow folding. Taped them together using two long strips of washi tape to make two separate "hinges". Then made my full sized art and cut into two pieces to match the ATC sizes and glued over top of the Washi taped side. On the back glued some other paper to cover the other side of the (cereal box) ATC... all the while making certain they would fold flat.

Hope this helps. I've had friends use tulle or a thin paper for the "hinge". Keep in mind you don't have to hinge the two ATC's they just need to become one larger picture when placed next to each other.

Let me know if you need more info!

HAPPY CREATING! Laurie

Laurie, thank you for telling how you create hinges on diptychs. I made one a long time ago and remember having all kinds of problems with it. I'm happy to see these instructions here. Thanks!

Glad I could help with that, towenby. I've had a few experiments that went awry. Glad you decided to join us. =D

Welcome, LizzyJo! Thank you for joining. =D

Annet 08/23/2013 #

I'm sorry, but I had to drop this swap.

PrairieKittin 08/25/2013 #

I used a blank greeting card and simply cut it to size, leaving the fold intact.

doodlebugdezines 08/26/2013 #

Me, too, Annet. Don't worry there will be more diptych swaps on the future, I'm sure. Great idea PrairieKittin for the hinge thingy. =D
