Could someone please tell me how to get stamps off of an envelope, other than just cutting around them?
Thanks!

Can sticker postage stamps be soaked in water to remove from paper?

Modern postcards can not be removed from paper because of the way they are made. They will fall apart. I don't know the date when they started making self adhesive stamps, but probably in the 1990's.

To get older stamps off the paper, trim the stamps so there isn't much paper around them (without damaging the perforations). Set them in a bowl of warm water and let them soak. The paper will go to the bottom of the bowl, and the stamps will float.

Take them out of the water and Gently pat them with a paper towel. Then place them on blotting, or absorbent in a single layer. Cover the last sheet with a paper towel, and place heavy books on top of them until the stamps are dry. It could take several days for them to dry. Carefully lift them off the paper when dry, and that's it!

Thanks so much for answering. So for the above swap "Off Paper" means trimmed around the stamp then? Sorry I don't know much about collecting/sharing postage but I've gotten a lot of really nice ones in swapping and would like to start. Thank you!

No, off paper means that the stamp has been soaked and completely removed from the paper.

I use a sticker remover to soak off the modern selfadhesive stamps. I put the remover on the stamp, and its not damaging the stamp. It only dissolves the glue. It's an easy way to remove the selfadhesive stamps from paper.
