Description:

It's really amazing how many fun and interesting postage stamp designs the post office releases each year!

I love having a variety of stamp designs and denominations to use when sending mail. I know I can't be the only one, so I propose that we trade unused postage so we can all have some fun new stamps to use!

For a fun challenge, you will send your partner new, unused US postage totaling $2.00, no more, no less. That means you will have to use different denominations to reach the exact total! Try not to send more than two of the same stamp- the point here is variety!

If you stamps are sticky on the back (as most are these days) it would be a good idea to stick them to a piece of wax paper so that your partner can easily peel them off again to use them.

And I know that everyone probably already knows this, but due to the nature of the swap, I just want to remind everyone that all Forever stamps, no matter how old, are currently worth 46 cents, and you should count them as such when totaling your stamps.

And the best part is, this swap actually only costs you the 46 cents it takes to mail the swap! You're getting the same amount of postage back that you sent, and it can still be used for mailing!

This swap will be USA only since we are trading unused postage so it can be used to mail letters and packages.

Postage stamps are sender's choice, so as long as your partner sends you new, unused postage totaling exactly $2.00 (on time), they have earned their 5.

You must be rated for 5 different Type 2 and/or 3 swaps to participate. No 3 or 1 ratings in the last three months and no currently late swaps on your dashboard as of the day I assign profiles. I will wait to check profiles right before I assign partners to keep myself more organized.

This is my first time hosting a swap, so I hope I did not leave anything out. Please let me know if you have any questions at all! If this swap goes over well, I may host it on a fairly regular basis with different total requirements and extra challenges thrown in just to keep things interesting!

Are older gummed stamps ok as well? I have some older unused ones I bought on eBay and at a stamp show, but I wanted to ask first. :)

I think most of the new self-adhesive ones are on perforated sheets, so hopefully you can gently tear them apart instead of attaching them to a different sheet. (That might wear out the adhesive.)

@digitalmaven - Anything is acceptable as long as they can still be used to send mail, so those should be fine. No one will probably have those, so they sounds just right for this swap!

And I think some of the ones sold on larger sheets are perforated, but the skinny double sided sheets, which are quite common, are not. Hopefully everyone will be able to use their best judgement depending on the situation so we can get our stamps in the best shape possible. :)

Ok, thanks! :)

Regarding the same stamps, can they be different stamps from the same set? Like if I had the pixar ones, could I use more than 2 of them as long as they're all different designs?

LittleMissMrs 11/24/2013 #

@smadronia yes that's perfectly fine, although I would encourage you to send the largest variety possible to increase the chances that your partner is receiving stamps they don't already own. :)

Thanks for joining, everyone! I thoroughly checked out each participant according to swap guidelines, and everyone passed, so it's time to swap! Please message me if you have any questions! :)
