Description:

I note that several people have said on a thread of the OFAP forum that they would be interested in a Pen Pal Swap in order to write to someone in their age range. So here it is.

I know the holiday season may not be the best time to join a swap but here's what we'll do: the sign up period will be long, so you have until just after Christmas to sign up. And then you'll have three weeks to write to your partner -- by then you'll be able to tell your new friend what the holidays were like where you live, you might have some photos of grandchildren or decorations or something of the sort to include with your letter. And the details will still be fresh in your mind.

This is an international swap. I hear the US international postage will go up about 10 cents -- but then postage coming into the US is pretty steep -- still that's not so much for a flat letter and it's wonderful to discover different customs and similar interests when you write to people of the same age group whether in your own country or elsewhere.

If you're interested sign up when you see this swap and feel comfortable that you don't have to get a letter in the mail until the new year.

So if I read this right, we write about our Christmas, just want to make sure I'm right!

You can write about Christmas -- or you can write an introductory letter which might also include things about Christmas. Penpal swaps assume you will probably continue a correspondence for a while.
