Jan. 9: changed sign up date from Jan. 17 to Jan. 12

Oh boy, I never thought I'd be sewing again (anyone else want to host some easy sewing swaps? lol), but this is SO CUTE and super easy! I encourage you to try it even if you are a beginner sewer. You can mail it flat, too, to keep postage costs down. (";)

Tutorial

Edited Dec. 21 to add:
- Please note that the tute specifies cotton fabric - in this case it should be quilting cotton (not flannel or decorator cotton as these are too thick for this little bag).
- Make sure you wash and dry your fabric before cutting the squares.

Have fun!

That is that most adorable thing I have seen (well next to my cat), but it ranks way up there. I would love to sew...but I can't seem to master it.

Adorable!! I'm busy thinking about my fabric stash.... and wondering if I can make a couple for last minute Christmas gifts!

Lishmo 12/15/2013 #

hmmm... maybe. I don't know if I'm ready to sew!! But that is super cute.

I just did one of these the other day. Sort of. I can tell you that it won't work well with flannel as one of the fabrics. Definitely keep them to light-weight fabrics.

Unless you want to create a cat cap...

lol Cristin!

I would recommend using quilting quality cotton for most sewing crafts we will do here (unless the tute specifies something else) but make sure to wash and dry it before cutting as it shrinks a bit.

I will try to remember to mention this in my sewing swaps so that the beginners are aware.

I love it!!!

LOL at the cat cap. Like my cat would let me get near her with anything resembling attire.

I am hoping to get a sewing machine for my birthday but now cant guarantee it before the new sign up date - will have to pull out of this one - hope it will be repeated :)

I made this today, and I recommend cutting your twine a bit longer than the tutorial suggests. 20 inches barely goes all the way around the pouch.

Thx TC!

I also noted that using anything OTHER THAN twine or embroidery floss or a similar thin thread or cord will NOT work. I threaded 1/4" ribbon through mine and it would not close because the ribbon is too bulky.

Okay, so maybe THAT's my problem!!! Mine looks perfect until I try to close it (used the ultra narrow ribbon), and it looks like a colorful hemorrhoid!!! Going downstairs to find some floss or cord. Thanks for posting that Terry - not sure I would have figured that out!!!
