Description:

I have seen tons of washi tape swaps but not many international swaps so here goes.

For this swap you will send to each your partner 4 different samples of washi tape. Each one has to be different and measure at least 12 inches. If you are unsure then most regular scrapbook paper are 12 inches so that is a good guide to go by. Please make sure that IF you are sending a solid colour tape that you send only a minimum of 2 that are a solid colour and then the other two have to be patterned.

The tape has to be clean and wrinkle free and most importantly, sticky. Please wind your washi tape onto a plastic/card or handmade bobbin making sure you wind it neatly onto itself. This picture is just an idea but feel free to use anything to wrap the tape onto as long as its surface is shiny and the tape peels off it easily..

A good way to send this would be to lightly stick the top ( not the part with tape on ) of each bobbin into a card so they don't shift around and end up costing more to send. You could even tape the top of the bobbin down with... wait for it... washi tape! This is totally optional if you would like to do it this way and not a requirement.

You will have two partners and please include a note of some sort with your swap-bot name and name of the swap. No new or unexplained 1's or 3's. It is not profile related so you can put your samples into the envelope and wait for partners to be assigned.

Very important Please make sure you understand what washi tape is and make sure you have the swap requirements before joining. It has to be washi tape and not deco or plastic tape. It has to be store bought and not home made.

If you have any concerns or questions then please feel free to send me a message to my inbox. I will ban where I see fit but in that case I might offer a private trade. Two weeks to sign up and 1 week to send.

Quilter's template plastic is also a great material to wrap washi tape around. They carry it at Joann Fabrics and other quilting/fabric stores for $2-4 per sheet (12x18inches).

I was thinking used gift credit cards - although some can be a bit thick/heavy

Those are great ideas ladies. As long as the washi tape does not stick to the surface and it is light to send then I suppose you may use what you like, the bobbins just seem to work the best for me though.

I like to take a piece of cardstock, cover it with packing tape, and use that. It's lightweight, durable, and the tape doesn't loose its tack.

Would it be okay to use a playingcard and wind the 4 samples on to one or two cards? Since the wahi will be wind on to it self there will be enough space to put more samples on one card.

@Smadronia that seems like a plausible idea,so long as it stays tacky then it is okay.

@Rockabilly As long as the surface of the playing card is smooth and the washi tape peels off easily and can still be used then go for it.

@nasreen thank you

I use the clear plastic that comes from the trays you buy cookies and donuts from at the grocery stores and cut them into strips as long and wide as the envelope so it will be evenly distributed :)

That is an awesome idea @needlewings just as long as there are no sharp edges and you round the corners or something.

Do Not use wax paper! I have recieved some on wax paper before and it does not come of sticky

You can get plastic place mats at the Dollar Stores and they work quite well. Also, transparencies work well (in office supply area of goodwill stores sometimes). Plastic coated playing cards do work well, as someone mentioned.

I use long packages of good quality stickers. Double the pleasure for my swap mate!
