Description:

So far we're having a lot of fun making quilt blocks and swapping them with our partners for a quilt to be made later in the year from these blocks. So this swap will be #2 in the series of quilt blocks. If you are just now joining in, that's fine you can always add blocks of your own creation to make up for the ones you've missed or do some private block swapping here with your friends. I think that these blocks will make a lovely quilt to be admired.

The swap will consist of senders choice of colors on the "Ribbon Star" block pattern so you can start working on your block right away.

The size of the block you will make will be 12.5" x 12.5" so that when it's finished and put into the quilt, the blocks will be 12"x12".

Please do your best work and make something you'd love to receive. I will host a different block pattern each month so don't forget to come back and check out the next month. You can start in the series at any time. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

If you don't intend to finish and mail your blocks, please don't join. Perhaps later would be a better time.

well, twobluecrows, i tried the instructions you gave me but i must not be understanding something. i still can't get my link in. can you type it into a message to me where you actually type what i need to type just the way it is and then let me cut and paste it and see if i can get it to work? i'm just a dummie i guess when it comes to links!

I know you said sender's choice, but does one of the colors need to be solid white for the pattern to work out right? Can it be a print or another solid color?

debhous, i think it would be ok to use a print in the same color, or a solid if you like that better. it doesn't have to be white, any solid would be great. and then if you would rather use a print, just make sure it's all the same print color for those particular blocks. i hope that makes sense.

That FaveQuilts website requires that you give them an e-mail and sign up for their newsletter--annoying--but if you use a disposable e-mail addy (one you create in Yahoo or hotmail just for registering for such things, you won't get your inbox jammed full of spam and junk and you can see all the patterns they have.

Another hint to make this work faster, is to not cut your traingles in half before sewing them, just draw a diagonal line across the 4x4 squares and lay them on top of the right side of the colored 4x4 squares and stitch 1/4" away from the lines on both sides, then cut on the line and you have two squares in two easy steps, with no stretching of the bias.

thank you twobluecrows for all your wonderful advise. i'm not an experienced quilter and am learning along with everyone else and it's nice to have someone who knows how to do these things! i appreciate you and everyone who is signing up for the monthly swaps. thank you all.

Twobluecrows I really do appreciate all your advice here. Its really helpful all your notes and suggestions because I'm far from a professional quilter but I do enjoy a good challenge.
