Description:

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of my actually getting to see and touch the Eiffel Tower in Paris France, I decided to create a swap. Seeing the Tower in person, actually touching it, was complete fulfillment of one of my "Bucket List" items.

I fell in love with the Eiffel Tower as a high school French student. Visiting Paris and the Eiffel Tower had been a goal of mine for more than 30 years. In 2004 my family and I were blessed to be able to take a trip to Europe. It was the trip of a lifetime. (It only took me 5 years to pay off the loan, but it was worth every penny.)

"As strong as iron yet as delicate as lace, the Eiffel Tower is the romantic symbol of Paris. Interestingly, its design was at first disdained by the city's artists and writers, who protested the tower's construction in 1889 for the Universal Exposition, a world's fair commemorating the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution." "The tower was never meant to be a permanent installation on the Paris skyline, and it was nearly dismantled in 1909." (both quotes from HowStuffWorks website)

I have only been swapping for a few weeks, so please be patient with me, and certainly contact me with questions.

This swap is Sender's Choice. It is not intended to be an expensive or time consuming swap. You can find items with the Eiffel Tower pictured on them at the Dollar Store, Thrift Store, almost anywhere.

Examples of what you can send are: postcards, drawings, photographs, small trinkets, cut-outs, stamped images, etc. As long as they are clean, in good shape, and have the Eiffel Tower on them, or they are designed as the "Eiffel Tower", your partner should rate you a 5.

"Anything and Everything Eiffel" Tower, will make your partners smile. They will realize that they are not alone with this obsession that they feel for the Tower. Its amazing how many people I have met and found out about how they, too, felt pulled to it.

Just be careful and don't send out something you might want back, because a "Tower Lover" never lets go of anything to do with the Eiffel Tower.

You will have two partners for this swap. It is "International" (hint, hint, our Paris partners). Newbies and experienced, all are welcome. I will only ban you from this swap if you have a lot of "1" ratings, or any "not sents".

Ah, J'aime Paris! I visited Paris in 2002 and 2004 and NEVER wanted to come back! I went to the top of Tour Eiffel in June of 2004 ~ perhaps you were there while I was?! In any case, I am so excited about this swap and you are correct, it may be difficult to part with something of the Tower, but I am happy to share my love of Paris with others.

Thanks for joining.

How many items are we supposed to send for this swap?

pobuffy 08/27/2014 #

You only need to send one item. A postcard, picture, really anything with the Tower on it. The idea is to share that you, also, love the Eiffel Tower. You will make you partner smile just to think of it.

Hi! I'm so excited about this swap. I have so many items with the Eiffel tower on them. So much so that I was thinking about a few items to put in the package. Then I read where you said only send one item:( lol. Is that set in stone or can we send more? Then you probably dont want one person getting one item and others getting five. As the swap creator you said one so if I should stick to that, then I most certainly will. Thanks for creating this swap! I Love the Eiffel Tower!!! So excited to swap!

I'm so glad you are going to join us. Yes, I wrote this as "one" item: picture, pc, etc. Really anything that is shaped as an Eiffel Tower, or just a picture of the Tower. It will be interesting to see what we come up with. Don't go to a great deal of time or expense, just share with another Tower lover.

Most swaps allow extras, so shouldn't be a problem if you WANT to send more, I would think. Just know that you might only RECEIVE one thing in return. I've got a few things I can send for the same price as one, so I'd rather do that then just send a lonely tower in the envie ;)

Thanks to all of you who are participating in the very first swap that I am hosting. From all the comments above, you are all very helpful. I don't care if you want to send extras, but as splashofjoy stated, "Just know that you might only RECEIVE one thing in return." Thanks for clarifying that for me, splashofjoy. As I said before, this is my first swap to host, so please let me know if there is something wrong. I will "angel" if there are any flakers. Thanks!
