Description:

Requirements - 5+ Swaps under your belt, 4.8+ rating, no flakers please! I shouldn't have to track down people just to send out their swap, that's no fun!

I've always wanted to make a swap for one of these!

This is free theme, so each theme on the envelope will be your choice. Or if you feel up to it you can base the whole thing off your partners profile or a couple of envelopes.

Please no "white" plain envelopes. Envelopes must be colors or decorated.

Then you'll embellish and draw things on each of the fronts.

To bind it together: Make a small cover our of decorative paper (doesn't have to cover the entire envelopes, can be something short and sweet), fold in half, punch holes into the ends of the envelope (the long end)and the cover and bind together with pretty ribbons and yarns! Make sure the flap opening is not the side you punch holes into!

You must have at LEAST 8 (eight) envelopes in your book. You're more than welcome to have more if you feel up to it.

Now! Fill your envelopes. I would say around $5-$7 worth of goodies. Stickers, paper scraps (good quality), could be a gift card, flat embellishments, pop up stickers, fabric pieces, fabric embellishments, rhinestones, etc. There's endless possibilities on what could go in one of these. Fill up each envelope in your book.

You'll have plenty of time to get your "envie book" made up and sent off. I know about the hectics of little ones starting school again!

If you cannot find any kind of time to devote to this (please make it look nice and not junky) then I suggest you do not sign up for this swap.

Very interesting concept and I am intrigued. Will this be int'l? If its stated above I missed it and will keep watching this one.

Hi! This sounds very cool, and I am thinking of signing up. I have never made anything like this. Sorry, but I couldn't quite get a mental picture of how to do it from your instructions so I googled "envelope book" to get images and a better idea of what this is exactly. Would it be alright to make it like this?: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/howto/ideas/envaccordion.html

i love this idea! but i'm not sure how the binding is supposed to be. would it be okay if i did a different kind of binding?

weeatcrayons 09/ 4/2008 #

Yes a different binding is okay...just as long as it holds it all together

Yes WRW an accordian book is fine!

This is a great project! I participated in one here at Swap-bot last year, or the year before?, and though it was my first time then, I so enjoyed it.

Here's the URL to a few posts on my blog showing what I did in two separate swaps. (Just cut and paste the URL to your search engine.)

One Envelope Book Swap was based on "The Jolly Postman" books so all the envelopes in the book were "addressed" to my partner. And I had a theme for each envelope based on her profile.

Scroll on down in my blog to another post which shows the ones I received for an Envelope Book Swap much like this swap, and the ones I made for my partners for that same swap. I hope it'll give ya'll an idea of one way to make these. They're great fun and you can stick all sorts of goodies in the envelopes!

Signing up for this one!
