Description:

I'm hosting this 2nd round because "the other part of my mind had a weak moment when I went to a scrapbook convention this past weekend." LOL!

>

Ok, so I'm struggling with my mind at the moment. Part of it says, "buy more washi tape," and the other says, "you don't need to buy anymore; you have A TON, so why don't you save a little money and share and swap samples instead!" LOL!

Do you have these struggles too? If so, let's band together and "share our washi!"

Fine details:

  • 3 partners.
  • Send a minimum of 8 different washi tape samples (12" / 30.48 cm) to each partner (see NOTE below).
  • Wrap around a shiny surface (if using cheap playing cards, cover them with packing tape first).
  • No shiny deco tapes that need to be cut with scissors.
  • Decorate the front of your envelopes with several strips of colorful washi tape.
  • Minimum rating to join: 5.0 - yes a perfect score!

NOTE: All washi tape is NOT created equal.

“Real washi tape” is pliable and flexible, is easily ripped with your fingers, and has a clean edge. It makes almost no sound when peeled from the roll.

“Cheaper washi tape” (e.g., here in the USA at Dollar Stores or craft stores in the $1.00 bins) is stiff and has a papery white edge when ripped. When you peel it, you can hear a stiff peeling sound. A lot of times, this cheaper tape won't re-peel after you've wrapped it on a playing card and therefore, renders it useless for the recipient. It also leaves a hard edge indentation from being wrapped on cards.

The icon for the swap are stacks of my newest tapes. :)

HAHA! I definitely struggle with this. I love washi tape, too. I justify my obsession with wanting to buy more Washi tape by using it on almost everything I send. Postcard? Washi it. Envelope? Washi it? Mail art? Yeah, probably needs some washi. Bills? Okay I don't washi those, but I should!

Hmmm...perhaps we should start a movement to add washi to our bill envelopes. After all, they are opened by people who just may smile and have a better day by seeing our colorful washi. HA! :)
