Description:

This is a swap for a traveling art journal.

First step: Make a journal and decorate the cover any way you want. Size doesn't matter, but make it an easy, manageable size for your partner to mail and be mindful of the cost to mail it. The journal should have at least enough pages for 10 partners to create a 2 page layout. This is the OWNER'S journal.

Second step: On the first page of the journal (not inside the front cover, but rather on the first page), put your name and address with the instructions "Please send this journal back to me when it is full" (or words to that effect). On this page you will also inform your partners of the "theme" of your journal. This is anything you want (butterflies, flowers, angels, bats, etc.) You can also decorate this page if you'd like.

Third step: Mail your journal to your partner. Once you receive an owner's journal, create a 2 page spread in the journal incorporating the owner's "theme" in your art work. Draw, paint, color, doodle, scrapbook, zentangle, paste, whatever. Just do "something" (anything) artsy on the 2 pages. Make sure to include your swapbot ID and the date somewhere on the pages you create. Once the next round is set, you will mail this journal to your next partner.

This swap will be limited to 10 participants. The swap will run about every 2-3 weeks. Starting next round (Round 2), the swap will be switched to "Private" and everyone will have to enter a password to enter the swap. Once the swap participants are set, I will give you the password and it will be the same for every swap. I will choose something easy to remember. This will ensure that only the original 10 people can join the swap.

There will be 5 rounds in the first round of swaps. After the first 5 rounds are completed, we will decide as a group if we want to continue the swap for another 5 rounds. If so, we will continue with the swaps for another 5 rounds and hopefully all 10 people will get a chance to create art in everyone's journal. If not, you will send the swap home to its owner at the end of the first 5 rounds.

So.... Make a journal. Fill out 2 pages in a partner's journal. Send the journal to your partner in the next round. That's it.

Now for the FINE PRINT:

Must have at least 20 Type 3 swaps completed. (not just 20 swaps total)

Must have a rating of 5.0. This is necessary to help ensure that no flakers join the swap.

All participants must agree to pay the extra cost to mail the swaps with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION to ensure that no journals are lost. Once you've mailed the swaps, send the confirmation number to your partner so that they can track it.

All participants must agree to participate in all rounds of the swaps (either 5 or 10 rounds). It's not fair to everyone if you flake out in the middle of the swap and/or don't join all rounds.

Make sure to mail on time and rate your partners when you receive the swap.

Any questions please let me know.

Omg can I leave a swap I'm in already? I want to be a part of this so badly but Im at 5 swaps already :(

Gamora 01/21/2016 #

Awww I dropped an email swap that had not given me a partner yet and now I still don't meet the requirements.

I have a journal already started from a previous round robin similar to this one, may I use it?

Thanks for joining the swap @jinxspinx I look forward to seeing your work! :-)

@midteacher - yes, you can use your existing journal, as long as it has enough blank pages for this swap. Also, if you didn't have a theme in your previous journal, just make sure to put your theme somewhere in the journal so that your partners know what theme to follow. I hope you join - you do gorgeous work!! :-)

@Gamora - Welcome to swap-bot!! I'm so sorry that you currently don't meet the requirements, but if this swap goes well, I will host it again and hopefully by then you will meet the requirements. You sound like a very enthusiastic swapper and I look forward to working with you soon. I have a newbie friendly handmade card swap up right now that will help boost your type 3 swap numbers that you are welcome to join. Just click on my name and look at my dashboard. It lists the swaps I am hosting on the right side and you'll find it there. :-)
