Description:

I really like making and receiving postcards. There's something really cool about a picture that comes with a stamp on one side and a written massage on the other. I'm a part of a flickr group that has to do with hand made postcards, I tried using that space to generate a postcard swap and it worked once but it seem to me that using this site would makke it a lot easier.

If you want to check out the flickr group, then here it is: http://www.flickr.com/groups/postcard-exchange/

Anyway, I thought that it'll be cool if this would be for postcards that are mainly hand drawn or painted - not so much collagues, but a real chance to make some sketches or painting and send them to other people.

Correction: as requested, I am going to ban anyone with 2 or more "no sends" just to make sure people won't just sign up to get stuff while not sending anything back.

Since it's fun to get a lot of mail, I'm setting the partners at 5 - so send 5 cool postcard, get 5 cool postcards! easy and fun.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I like this swap, but I am a little reluctant because you say you won't ban anyone. It's nice to give people a chance to redeem themselves, but to leave it completely open just seems a bit risky. I can easily spend an hour on a hand-drawn postcard! So, would you consider modifying that a little, maybe offering people with bad ratings a chance to explain themselves, or looking to see if their most recent ratings have been 5s, or something. I will check back to see how the signups are going, and maybe add my name a little later.

Good luck!

I am not very good at drawing or painting. My drawings look like kids drawings, but I would like to join, Can I?

shining star - sure you can I think that can be really cool, a lot of people can make nice looking stuff and just don't dare to try cause they think they don't know how to make it pretty enough. I think this can give you an great chance to try something new. I think that as long as you make an effort and put some time and thought into it, people would appreciate your piece.

Sharon - I see what you mean. I think I'll change it to banning who ever have more then 2 "no send" - that would give almost everyone a chance to be in while keep away people who make it a habit not to send., will that work for you?

I typically hand draw a prototype, copy it off onto an appropriate cardstock, and then hand color each card. I\'ve also seen people hand-draw and color a prototype, and then scan it and print out copies. Would either of these fit within your proposal, or would you prefer that we stay with original works? Otherwise, I may just have to force myself to spend less time on each drawing... which could be an interesting thing in itself!

I like original art work, I made this a hand drawn postcard exchange because I got a little tiered spending an hour or two on an avarage postcard \ ATC and then getting a couple of stickers and a stamp on a piece of cardboard.

I actually don\'t mind collage or any other medias, I just want people to get nice things and send nice things in this swap.I have no problem with hand painting a prototype.

Couldn't resist and posted scans of mine on the gallery - I'm really happy with the way they came out.

Sending them out tomorrow.

Mine are late going out- with HUGE apologies. I should have them out monday, so am marking them 'sent' now- but understand I know they will be postmarked late, since my post office/mail center won't get them untill saturday night and they won't get stamped/sent out untill monday. Sowwy... I won't bore ya with the whyfors, I'll just send nice postcards, which beats a nosend any old day. ;)

I got 3 today - that was so cool, I love all 3. I uploaded scans to the gallery - check it out!

Also, what's really nice, 2 people contact to tell me they received mine, I love it when people do that, I try to remember to always do that cause it suck to worry about stuff getting lost in the mail - so be nice, if you got postcards - let people know you have them.

And you are all welcome to upload photos or scans of sent or received postcards in the gallery or the flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/postcard-exchange/
