Description:

Wide Open Spaces, the series continues ... with clouds. Storm clouds, unusual clouds, tall clouds, stacked clouds, high wispy clouds, low-hanging clouds ... Interpret a wide open land or sea-scape with clouds in three or more parts that can fit in a standard envelope.

I just found out that a piece of art that is made up of panels is called a "polyptych!" In this series, we are creating a landscape in three or more pieces. Each piece will fit in a standard letter (C6 or DL) envelope. The landscape should show a contiguous wide open space. There are many, many ways to design a polyptych, including "tiling" (search subway tiles patterns online for ideas), horizontal and vertical orientations with same-sized and differently-sized pieces, even differently-shaped pieces. Search images for "polyptych" and you will find examples of these ideas. I will post selected examples below, and might even post a video of ideas with my new-found courage!

Here are some ideas for landscapes that include clouds: collage clouds from stardog studio/ John Morse; Pinterest page of cloud collages; clouds in acrylics; Bob Ross paints clouds; clouds in watercolor; live watercolor painting of clouds; drawing clouds with shading/ erasing/ blending; Alphonso Dunn on clouds in pen and ink; and there are so many more! Please feel free to post your favorite links and images below.

Open to all ZMACS members in good standing. Please don't let your fears cloud your participation -- you are among friends at ZMACS, art is a way to explore the world around us and within us! I will send some clouds to anyone who does not receive them from their partner :)

Image is of dust storm meeting rain clouds over the Indian Ocean off the coast of Australia! Wow!

I LOVE clouds.

Me, too. I lent a friend the awesome book "Cloudspotting" and I wish that I hadn't! I will have to see if it is in the library.

The Cloud Appreciation Society has an interesting web site.

Thanks for joining, everyone! Partners assigned.

Sand or snow next round, I think -- unless you have a different idea. Wide open cityscape is another possibility ...
